How can Commvault be configured to write backups to tape media? (Note: I have already added the tape and can see the drives and media; I have two drives and three tapes, as well as two backup plans. However, while one plan always succeeds, the second consistently results in errors [32:690] and [32:193].)

 Hi @Abbdallah ,

Good day!

Please  perform the following checks for the tape backup failures:

  • Verify that the failing plan is associated with the correct Storage Policy and Tape Copy.
  • Confirm the Data Path is enabled and points to the expected MediaAgent and tape library.
  • Ensure both tape drives are online and available for allocation.
  • Verify that the tapes are writable, not marked as full/bad, and that sufficient media is available in the scratch pool.
  • Compare the working and failing plans for any differences in Storage Policy, Copy configuration, or MediaAgent assignment.
  • Retry the job and share the complete error message associated with [32:690] and [32:193], along with the Job Details/Event Viewer logs from the failed attempt.

As another plan is successfully writing to tape, we would like to identify any configuration differences specific to the failing plan.

Regards,
Sureshkumar S
