Change AD domain user password. CVD.log shows error: failed to log in using [domain\user01] -1326

I changed the password for the AD domain account 'backup.user.' After checking the Commvault Communication Service logs, I found login failure entries, though I confirmed that the service is configured to run under the local system account (not a domain account). The CVD.log shows the error:
*'failed to log in using [domain\backup.user] -1326.'*

Could you advise how to check the login configuration for cvd.exe and update it with the correct credentials? Thank you.

Hello @Hardy ,

After changing the credentials for the domain account, please note that the CommCell Console does not automatically detect updated credentials. You will need to update them manually.

If you have the CommCell admin credentials, please follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the CommCell Console using the CommCell admin account.

  2. Navigate to:
Security → Domain → Right-click on the domain → Properties

  3. Update the username and password with the new credentials.

  4. Click on "Validate Domain".

Once the domain is successfully validated, you can attempt to log in using another user account.

If you're not sure about the CommCell local admin credentials, I recommend opening a support case with Commvault Support—they can assist you with resetting the password.

Hi Orophile, this server is not the Commserver. After checking the client details > configurations, I confirmed this machine is installed as both a Client and MediaAgent. Therefore, there is no 'Domain' menu available.

Hi @Hardy Are you by chance taking the active directory backups on this server?

HI, Rajiv, I checked the backup list and found no backup tasks for Active Directory.

@Hardy I would suggest raising a case with us to deep dive into this.
