Deduplication Database location when Disk Library is on NAS

Hi team,

I would like to confirm a specific point regarding Commvault Deduplication.

  • Is it supported to store the Deduplication Database on a NAS , considering that the NAS itself is not a MediaAgent?

I want to confirm whether the DDB can reside on NAS storage or if it must be located on MediaAgent-local storage.

Can / and should you are two very different things that specially in this case should be looked very carefully. I would not recommend it but you can.

"The DDB must be stored on solid state drives (SSD) that are local to the MediaAgent. Before setting up the DDB, the storage volumes must be validated for high performance. Use a tool that measures the IOPS (Input Output Operations per second). For optimal backup performance, the DDB needs to be on a fast, dedicated disk"
