Delete jobs

Forum|alt.badge.img+7

Hi,

We’re trying to delete jobs thats having no data left in it. Since we have deleted all data within the subclient. In under the right storage policy viewing jobs we don’t get delete as an option in the rightclick menu.

We’re running version 11.32.92 on prem.
The subclient is a subclient of a Windows File System that’s been backingup data that should have been purge for several years ago.
We’ve managed to delete the files backedup. But the jobs still exist in under the subclient.
When trying to delete the subclient we get “The last cycle pertaining to [xxxx] subclient will be kept until those jobs are manually pruned. To confirm this action type …..
How do we delete the jobs or prune them directly??

Hi PatricG,

Best way to delete the jobs is from the Storage Policy Copy level. You will get multiple media options when you view the jobs at the copy level instead of policy level. Go to Storage Policy → Primary Copy ( o whatever copy you would like to delete the data from) and perform the manual deletion. Once attempted, it will automatically look for the dependent jobs, you can validate the dependent jobs and if they are all ready to be deleted, perform the deletion.

Try deleting from the Policies level.

Go to the Storage policy for that subclient, right click, view jobs, filter by the client, right click, delete.

HI @PatricG

You can do a few things, you can prune the job following the instructions here:

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/deleting_job.html or:
https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/deleting_multiple_jobs.html

or

If you want to prune all of the jobs and the remove the client from Commcell you can also delete the client:

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/deleting_client_computer.html

@PatricG : To clarify is the subclient associated to deconfigured client? If so, you can follow this doc link to enable a setting so that jobs would age based on days criteria and ignore cycles

https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/data_aging_and_deconfigured_clients.html

For deleted subclients also

https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/data_aging_of_deleted_subclients.html

@Ponte_Vedra That’s what I have tried to do. But I don’t get any delete choice on the right click menu.
I’ll try the other suggestions during the day and report back my findings.

Hi, I’ve tried finding it in the “sub” policies of the main storage policy.
There I get the delete choice in the right click menu.
In the same time that means I have to find the job in all different copies (sub) policies and delete it manually. Which is time consuming...

Hi again,
I also found that I can get the client and the subclient as columns. There by I can filter on the correct subclient and delete all jobs related to it in every “sub” policy.
Problem solved. Thank’s alot to you all for answering and wanting to help.
