How Commvault check Exagrid's Point intime recovery

Exagrid is used by Commvault as a storage target.  The ability to restore to a point in time is dependent on which agent and types of backups you are running.  What type of data are you wanting to test PIT restores for?

It works independently from each other and is to be used in case of a ransomware attack, accidental deletion or an bad actor that purposefully deleted the data on the backup target and depending on the root cause you will have to combine it with the recovery of the CommServe DB as well. 

So are we saying that if you don’t have your old CS database (let’s just play devil’s advocate for a moment here) and you go back 10 days on your ExaGrid due to a ransomware attack, the ExaGrid PIT recovery will not work?  ​@Onno van den Berg 

Or were you just mentioning that you will need both to recover?  

No, you don't need an older copy of the CommServe DB to be able to recover data in case you go back X days on ExaGrid. But if you also lost your CommServe DB than it will be a different ball game. 

Understood.  Just checking.  Having major problems at this point with restores but I will create a new post for that which mimics my Support case verbatim.  Thanks!
