Hello Every one,

Our current storage is almost out of space, so we want to move all of the backup data to a new Storage.

we are thinking of the following:
- Create new Disk library contains mount paths of the new storage.
- Move the mount path from old mount paths to the new mount paths.
- Change the storage policy data path to the new mount path.

The reason behind we thought of using moving mount path method, because using Aux copy method would require to stop current backup jobs while moving the mount path doesn’t require that.

what is your advice about this approach

Hi :)

Do you have one mount path or multiple mount paths in the current and new disklibary?
Please note that you at least need the current mount path size available on the new location.
And your statement is partially true, the move mount path will disable write access during phase 2 of the move.

The Auxiliary copy however will allow jobs to continue, when only a small delta is left you can pause scheduling/data management in total or for the specific section of your environment, let the remaining delta be transfered, change the copy precedence so this is the first copy and resume everything.

I would use the Aux Copy method.  It’s simple.  You don’t need to stop backup jobs.

Thanks,
Scott
