My understanding is that the deduplication database is not used in a restore scenario. Many years ago, I ran a restore without a DDB or IndexCache. It had to rebuild the IndexCache as it went, and was terribly slow, but it worked. I found some posts on here saying the same.
Is there any official Commvault documentation that states this explicitly?

Yes, that’s true, DDB is not required for restores,
First rule of Commvault to remember is that the DDB is not used at all for restore, only backup

The DDB is not implemented during the restore process.
