Backup not running after shut down domain controller

Forum|alt.badge.img+10

Hi,
we have a subdomain with 3 Windows DC’s.
If i shut down DC 1 my XenServer Cluster backup doesn’t backup.

Error:
Error Code: [14:212]
Description: Failed to connect to indexing process from client [BACKUPWEL02] to MediaAgent [BACKUPWEL01.wels.ssishop.net*BACKUPWEL01*8400]. Error [Unable to connect to remote machine [BACKUPWEL01.wels.ssishop.net]. Please check Network Connectivity.].
Source: BACKUPWEL02, Process: vsbkp

If i start my DC the backup runs fine.
What can causes this problem? We want to deconfigure the DC next time.
But there are another 2 DC’s in the subdomain. Backup should normaly runs fine or?

Regards
Dennis

Found the error.
The backup proxy have wrong DNS servers in the network config.

Thanks for updating with your resolution Dennis. Glad this one was a simple fix for you.

We do have a dependency on DNS/Name Resolution from the OS level. So we need DNS to be in place and working here. - This is preferred rather than leveraging hosts files (need to be manually updated) or setting the Hostname to IP in software.

We do also have DIP’s (Data Interface Pairs) which can be leveraged to force communications (in CV software) between machines over specific IP Addresses.

Best Regards,

Michael
