Failed to initialize catalog operation for media

Hallo CV Community,

we have got two tapes which are in the Media Group ‘Catalog Media’ but when the job is running to catalog this media we got this issue

Error Code: [62:2158]
Description: Failed to initialize catalog operation for media.
Source: s190a0010, Process: LibraryOperation

We are also not able to move them to an other Scratch Pool. We can view the content of the media tapes. We have got write protection hardware based on the tape drives active (switch on LTO6 tape).

Any ideas to solve this issue with the catalog operation?

Philipp,

Thanks for reaching out to commvault.  If you can view content on the tape (shows backup jobs) then catalog and merge is not needed for this tape.  Catalog and merge are only for tapes that the commserv doesn’t know about. Please see below.

@William Dennehy

thanks for your answer. That’s helpful for me. How can I move the two tapes from the catalog pool to the scratch pool. I am not able to do that via GUI. That cause an issue in restore process due to they are in the wrong pool.

Maybe you have got also solution for me?
