our commserv is currently running on windows failover cluster , we would like to upgrade the OS and version and change the cluster to livesync
i am planning below
upgrading the cluster commserv to supported version ,currently its running on 11.26
installing failover lyve sync feature on this cluster , setting up stand by commserv with latest os and version , do a failover and if everything works , stop or kill the live sync , create a new server with latest version and make it as standby with same old commserv name ,
Request to take DR backup from the active node which is the primary step before making any changes.
Since live sync will be used as replacement of cluster you can make the current active node as standalone machine and make the node 2 offline.
Upgrade the OS and Commvault version on present active node and once completed you can create new machine for DR configuration and install the same OS and commvault version on the DR node.
Enable live sync between primary and DR which will be replicating the data from primary CS to DR CS with help of log shipping.

@Ajal If its new setup with clean installation of the operating system.
You can take DR backup from the current active CS machine and ensure both primary and DR are installed with same version and restore the DB on the new server and enable live sync
