Deploy Commvault db on different sql server

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

Hi,

We are going to refresh our Commserve server to a new hardware, but we are looking if its possible to deploy its DB on different SQL server.

We searched Commvault documents but all deployment procedures found are to deploy DB on the same server.

Hi @Fayez,

In modern versions of Commvault separating the CommServe database to a different server is not supported. The DB engine must be hosted on the same machine.

Hi, @Damian Andre ,

Thank you for your answer, in this case, do we need to purchase MS SQL license for this installation? or it is already included in out license agreement with Commvault?

Thanks.

Hey Fayez,

Every version of Commvault includes a SQL standard license in all cases where its used. So you are good there - no need to provide your own.
