Can we configure 1 VCenter in 2 different commServe?

The Subclients that backup are different in 2 Commserve’s and proxy’s

Will the Backups run smooth?

Do we anticipate any ambiguity?

Hi @Kavya,

In theory this should be fine.

Are you backing up the same or different VM’s in each CommServe?
How many VM’s are you looking to backup at the same time here?
Are these Streaming or Intellisnap?
Are all the VM’s on the same ESX host(s)? and what Transport Mode will be used?

I’d suggest that any backups of the vCenter or VSA Proxies are performed outside of the backup window to avoid any issues.

Best Regards,

Michael

@MichaelCapon

Are you backing up the same or different VM’s in each CommServe? -- Different VM but they reside on same VC

How many VM’s are you looking to backup at the same time here? - we are expecting overlap of the backup at same time trying to access the VC from both commcells

Are these Streaming or Intellisnap? -- Streaming

Are all the VM’s on the same ESX host(s)? and what Transport Mode will be used? -- Different ESXI, we choose AUTO as the transport Mode

Thanks @Kavya,

In that case I wouldn’t anticipate seeing any issues arising from this configuration.

If there is a large number of VM’s to be protected (hundreds), I would suggest to keep the Subclient/ApplicationGroup Data Readers (Streams) at default/lower value to avoid any potential (but unlikely) resourcing issues.

Let us know how you get on.

Best Regards,

Michael

Sounds Great. I will update if we choose to configure in this route

Thanks @MichaelCapon
