AWS EC2 Zabbix VM to VMware Restore Failure – Error 91:364 | Streaming Backup and IntelliSnap Backup Copy Configuration Assistance

Dear Commvault Support Team,

We require your assistance with the AWS EC2 Zabbix VM backup and cross-hypervisor restoration to our on-premises VMware environment.

Environment Details:

  • Source platform: aws ec2 instance

  • Destination Platform: On-premises VMware

  • Commvault Version: 11.40

  • Access Node: onpreme server

Issue Description:

  1. We successfully configured the AWS hypervisor in our on-premises Commvault environment and verified that the AWS Na region VMs were discovered and browsable.

  2. We initiated a manual VM Admin Job (Snap Backup) for the VM, which completed successfully.

  3. We attempted to restore the backed-up AWS EC2 instance to our on-premises VMware environment. However, the restoration failed with the following error:

    Error Code: 91:364
    Error Message: Snap restores are not supported for conversion
    Process: vsrst

We reviewed the Commvault documentation for converting Amazon EC2 instances to VMware, which states that conversion is supported from streaming backups, secondary copies, or IntelliSnap backup copies, but not directly from Snap copies.

Assistance Required:

  1. Share me the possibility wat to migrate the vm from ec2 to vmwate.

  1. We initiated a manual VM Admin Job (Snap Backup) for the VM, which completed successfully.

       2. Approximately 15 minutes after the Snap Backup completed, a VM Admin Job (Backup Copy) started automatically, i have killed that job and restored with the manually triggered backup.
