Hi,

we seem to have failed job on backup due to an error

Description: Error opening the disks for virtual machine nXXXX]. Verify that the correct transport mode is selected. Error: SecureChannelFailure (Unable to read data from the transport connection: Connection reset by peer.) See http://kb.commvault.com/article/63206 for additional information.
Source: xxxx, Process: JobManager

we followed the KB above but already set to Auto

we tried couple of other solutions to no avail . Any suggestions as this has been running smoothly . our other site running on same config . All i did recently was changing MTU size for our hyperscalers . But this is done for other intact site . This one seem to have been effected and not sure what other thing to look for

Hi @YAS ,

Good day!

Are the hyperscale nodes being used as access nodes for the VSA backups? If so the MTU size should match the ESXI’s if NBD transport mode is used.

We need to look on the read error on vsbkp.log and Vixdisklib.log to get more details

Regards,

Sureshkumar S

Hi Sureshkumar,

Thank you for the support on this . The issue turned out to be A communication between vcentre server and our Esxi . Despite TLS used and communication open via port 902, we seem to have no data been sent/received . Yes we use hyperscalers as access nodes . the outcome as follows

nc -zv x.x.x.x 902
Ncat: Version 7.92 ( https://nmap.org/ncat )
Ncat: Connected to x.x.x.x:902.
Ncat: 0 bytes sent, 0 bytes received in 0.01 seconds.
