Is the free version of ESXi that I use available to be backed up?

Hi shaley,

Unfortunately not. VMware needs ESXi to be licensed with a paid version to unlock the VADP protocols that Commvault uses for backup.

If that is not possible, you can always install agents directly into the VM guests to backup the machines – that will also give you the ability to restore the machine back to physical hardware or even a completely different hypervisor.

Please let me should you be interested in this option and I will find the appropriate steps for configuration.

Kind regards,
Scott
