Greetings Community,

we have an issue with Azure and AWS snapshots taken by Commvault.
We have a lot of snapshot in Azure and AWS that are not being deleted.

We do not have errors in Commvault.
We would like to know why and if there is a procedure to do delete them.

Thanks
Regards

@xor , does Commvault think the snapshots are still there, or are there no records of them as far as the Commserve is concerned?

Hi, we have the same issue, snapshots are not deleted in AWS even though we have set retention policy for snap copy to be 0 days 0 cycles. Data aging job completes without any issues however snapshots are still there in AWS

I think in general for AWS and/or Azure, if doing VSA streaming backups with VSA agent (No IntelliSnap enabled) the fact of seeing snapshots being created per VM are related with CBT is enabled by default and snapshots are kept to perform the incremental bakup in a efficient manner.

AWS: https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/changed_block_tracking_for_aws.html#how-it-works

Azure: https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/backup_process_for_azure_vms.html

Hope it helps.
