I have some question about mounting storage snapshot on Vmare.

Atm we are using 2 Windows MediaAgent to mount storage snapshot to make Intellisnap for Windows Servers and we are using 2 Linux MediaAgents for Linux servers.

We are going replace 2 MediaAgents with 2 new Linux MediaAgents. What are the possibilities for mounting storage snaps for Windows servers to make Intellisnaps backup copy? Can we mount it on VM server? Does anyone have same situation?

Commserver VR 11.24.3

vSphere Client version 7.0.2.00200

Dear Egor,

@Seb so instead of using physical VSA proxy, i can use  Esxi host as proxy to mount a snapshto from storage?

That’s right.

@Seb Can we use out Commserver for? Is there any documentation how to configur it? I am kinda new to this.

It’s all under VMWARE and then Configuration in the link I sent you above.

Below is the link:

@Seb We have 2 Vcenter installed in commvault, I wil make under each vmware subclient and add vm wich i want to do Intellisnap> Under subclient i need Enable Intellisnap> Then in Array Management> I wil edit Storage> Snap configuration> Old situation under Remote Snap MA there was used physical Windows Server, and if i want to mount in On ESX how do i need to config it?

Egor,

You can select it at VMWARE Instance Level, under Proxy.

Or in Subclient Properties:

https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/essential/87225_editing_vm_group_settings_for_vmware.html

  1. Under Snap mount ESX host, expand the tree and then select an ESX server that can be used to mount snapshots for IntelliSnap backups.

  2. Click Save

Best Regards,

Seb

@Seb  Thank you for your explanation, i wil try it out. Are you using it aswell? Or never try it out yet?

@Egor Skepko , @Seb is a customer Support engineer, so he’s likely seen it all!
