Hi @Fawzi,

Depending on your environment, you could configure a VSA for the vCenter and leverage the following methods:

  1. If the VM is on a SAN Datastore, Use Physical MA/VSA with SAN Access to use SAN Transport. (SAN transport generally offers the fastest backup method)
  2. Leverage HotAdd Transport using a VM VSA proxy.
  3. If the Storage for VMware DS is supported (and license depending) you could leverage IntelliSnap and then perform the BackupCopy from the Snap.
    See Supported Arrays here: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/software/supported_hardware_storage_arrays.html

Alternatively, you could use an Agent inside the VM to protect the data. i.e Windows/Unix Filesystem Agent. - Depending on the layout of disks inside the VM (and your requirements), you may be able to leverage multiple subclients to protect multiple disks/mounts at the same time.

If performance of the backup is of concern, you can raise a case with support and we’ll be able to check the logs and confirm any bottlenecks in the running jobs.

Best Regards,
Michael
