Hey,

i would like to restore a VMDK file directly to a datastore from a Hypervisor (VMWare) without attaching it to a VM. Am I just unable to find the function, or can Commvault really only restore single VMDK files on a MediaAgent or directly on a datastore with the requirement to attach them to a VM?

Shouldn’t be this a easy implementation as the process already exist (Restore Disk to VM). Just removing the attache step.

Hi @Hendrik Obi

That’s not an option right now, you can only restore VMDK to the Media Agent or Attach to an existing VM.

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/restores_for_vmware.html

You can raise a case with Support and we will check if we can raise a CMR.

Best Regards,

Sebastien
