Hello Commvault Community,

Is there any official list for "simOSid" for the SetVMOSInfo qscript?

https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/setvmosinfo.html

We don't know what the "simOSid" parameter is for. As I understand it will take some numerical value that isn’t described anywhere.

We want to change a misrecognized OS for a virtual machine for oVirt.

Thanks,
Kamil

Hi Kamil,

What is the OS of the VM that you want to change here? and what is it currently showing as?

There is a table in the SQL DB of the CS called simOperatingSystem which does contain the ID and name of the OS’s.

Best Regards,

Michael

Hello @MichaelCapon

We managed to extract the "simOSid" information from the CommServeDB table you mentioned.

There was a problem in the oVirt environment where several machines were recognized as Linux, although they were running Windows Server 2019 DC. After executing the qscript from the documentation I wrote about after changing to "simOSid" - 21, the machine was recognized correctly.

Thanks for the good hint on this topic.

Kind Regards,
Kamil
