I have reviewed and tested this functionality using versions 11.40 and 11.42. My question is specifically related to cross‑platform workload conversion, particularly the migration of VMware workloads to HPE VME.

As of version 11.42, VMware‑to‑VME workload conversion is not supported. I would like to know whether there is an upcoming roadmap or planned capability to enable seamless cross‑platform workload migration from VMware to HPE VME in future releases. Can you please check internally with the Commvault development and update.

I have checked and could see there is ongoing project to provide support to Vmware to HPE morpheus conversion . 

But at this point we cannot say in which version it will be supported (It can come in SP42 or later version. Cannot comment until the project is completed)

hi, just to point that Commvault’s conversions from one hypervisor to another has been helping my company a lot so far, (hyperV/vmware to any Cloud)

As 99% of the companies using VMWare, we’re all exploring other cheaper hypervisors, like Morpheus.

To be able to use Commvault to perform vmware backup/Morpheus restores would give Commvault a key advantage from its competitors, as an enabler. 

I want to track this project 😉

Is there any possibility of involving the Product or Engineering team to provide guidance on the above topic, specifically regarding the ETA for Commvault supportability of cross-hypervisor conversion from VMware to VME?

I see that many customers are actively looking for this capability and are waiting for clarity on the roadmap and supportability timeline.

Any information you can share from the Product or Engineering team would be greatly appreciated.

We are using version 11.44. With this it is possible to restore a VMware VM to HPE Morpheus VM Essentials (VME).

But not to the other direction. A VME VM can only be restored back to VME.

We are also interested in, when it will be possible to restore VME VM to other hypervisors.

Currently Veeam is supported converting VM from VMware to VME, but Still Commvault is developing this, someone from the engineering to reply on this.
