Customer is on 11.32 and is having a problem with Job Results folder filling up on backups. They’re VMware Primary backup is done in the field to a local MA/access node. Backup is VM backups, mounting snapshot, backup, release snap, auxcopy later. VM in question is 8.5TB and erroring out over the weekend when no restores are being done. Synth full Saturday, Incr Sunday… error out with filled up Job Results.

They’ve filled the job results folder up twice now, once at 100GB and now at 300GB, and don’t want to keep chasing this issue.

Customer would like to know behavior of the job results folder usage in order to properly size remote locations for backups. When does it release space?

Question for Job Results (it keeps filling up even at 300GB) - do we need space for:

a. files (as explained with a massively complex formula) and VM space (2% of VM size)

b. just VM space

And then how can we minimize the space requirements?

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

JobResults can be roughly calculated using the following document: https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/job_results_directory_disk_space_calculation.html

However to address the core problem, I might suggest setting up a lower daily value for JobResult retention as per this document: https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/pruning_job_results.html

Alternatively, if the issue is more due to where the JR directory is, you can change it to another drive if that is a practical approach. https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/changing_path_of_job_results_directory.html

Cheers!
