Hi All,

does somebody know when disk, or at least name filtering will become available for Proxmox and Nutanix VM backups?
Ever so often VMs have disks assigned containing no content worth to be backed up. Like e.g. sources, lasrge test copies of developers or Update Vaults.
With VMWare I am used to exclude such disks easily through disk filters, name filters or storage related ones. Or using the independent disk setting.
For Nutanix and Proxmox I can find no such possibilities. Commvault also does not honor the Proxmox backup setting for disks.
All filtering there applies to complete VMs only.
Running currently 11.36.98, but also tested with 11.44.12.
Thanks

Hi J.B.,

Proxmox filtering is something development are aware of. There is no current ETA for implementation at this time. You can contact your account manager and make them aware of the importance of filtering for your organization and they will be able to convey this to development to show how much demand there is for the feature.

Nutanix AHV does have disk filtering in VM Group settings.
For Prism Central: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.44/software/modifying_vm_group_settings_for_nutanix_prism_central.html#modify-the-vm-group-content

For Prism Element: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.44/software/editing_vm_group_settings_for_nutanix_ahv.html#modify-the-vm-group-content

Hopefully this helps.

Hello Jace Ross,

Totally missed the setting in the Nutanix configuration. As for Proxmox I will follow your advice and contact our account manager to express my interest in that feature.

Thanks,

Joerg
