Workflow - CommServDBQuery cannot use temp tables?

HiDoes anyone know if there are any restrictions in the workflow engine regarding the use of temporary tables in the CommservDBQuery activity? In the SSMS the query works fine.  When I run the above SQL query in the debug mode, I don’t get any output: I also tried to use a table as variable, which did not work either.The workflow engine runs on a dedicated server. Could this cause the issue? Thanks for your inputsMichael

Default Dump based backup set configuration

Hi,I’d like to enable parallel backup config for PostgreSQL databases. I can see I can modify the parallel dump based back up set config to enable parallel backups, but wondering if the default dump based backup set config can have this feature enabled by default?I don’t find any related article about it.For reference, this is the attribute I’d like to get enabled by default:https://documentation.commvault.com/2024/essential/using_parallel_jobs_to_dump_postgresql_database.html Thanks,

Delete VMDisk Filter doesnt work

Hello,does anyone know how to delete Disk Filters on a Hyper-V Subclient via qcommand? Add works, modify works but delete doestn do anything to the filters. Im Using this XML: documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/files/products/vs_vmware/command_line_xml/update_disk_filters_template.xmlAnd the job is running (any spelling error results in pending jobs) but nothing happens to the filters.XML Parameters for Microsoft Hyper-V Backup Set Configuration (commvault.com)In the xml i’m just swapping “ADD” to “DELETE” and this entry should have been removed. Thanks for help and regardsJacob

Removing client from subclient (not working) and commands execution log

Hello,I am trying to remove a client from subclient (PowerShell), and it works in most of cases, however I came across with a strange case when automation just does not work, for no reason (the target client stays in the subclient)I tried to use both methods I know:Remove-CVVirtualMachine and qoperation executeboth with “error code: 0” on exit 😐Also, I would deeply appreciate if anyone share the info under witch module in “process manager > logging” commands execution log can be found

Need to fetch job id from http request output

I am using http request in workflow which is in running in loop to run vm level backup. as an output it returns output for each http request as show below [{ "taskId":250501,"jobIds":[ "21035126" ] },{ "taskId":250502,"jobIds":[ "21035127" ]  I want to fetch the jobids from this and add it is list. How can this be achieved.

Initiate Backup for 1 specific VM using command line

Hi! I am working on VM onboarding PS automation for CV, and I can not find the way how to trigger backup for 1 specific VM (which is final step for onboarding process in our company)The only solution I found is: Backup-CVVirtualMachine, but unfortunately it returns me 404 error.Other ways allow to run backup for Backup Sets only which is not ok for me 😐Is there any other way I missing?Thank you

automated mail restore from Exchange DB - folderTag and mailboxTag parameter

Hello,in a workflow for automated mail restore from a Exchange DB, I need the parameter folderTag and mailboxTag. How I can request/get this values for a specific user from a recovery point? As part of the recovery point creation and mining, I can see the edb file info and  folderTag/mailboxTag of user within the Exchange database, in the Commvault logs…  but the logs roll over, so no source to grab the parameter for the specific user. Thx, Kay

Chain Schedule Jobs

Hi,I have several NDMP jobs that I need to run but due to the hardware having a 16 NDMP connection limit, I need to allow each schedules jobs to complete before initiating the next schedule.I am aware that a workflow may be the solution but wondered if anyone had any templates or guides to create the workflow as I am at a loss with the Workflow designer.The schedule has 15 sub-clients in each and all 15 need to complete before the next schedule should run to ensure the hardware limit is not hit. Appreciate any help or guidance/ Many thanks,Rich.

Kick off a VM backup at various non-scheduled times

We have a scenario where the following occurs, managed by a popular scheduling application on a server somewhere1 - Scheduling app logs in to the application server (VM) active node and stops <application_service>2 - Scheduling app kicks off maintenance tasks take place on the Active Node  with the application stopped3 - Scheduling app runs PS Script to tell Commvault via our CV “API Server” home brew with Web Console and other components installed to take VM backup of the app Active node with services stopped4 - once backup done, sends result back to PS script and if 0 (success) then the script restarts the application service on the active nodeProblem - This is all unnecessarily complicated by the presence of the ‘homebrew CV API server’ which was built and has no docs.I need a better, aka simpler, way. If the VM subclient cold run pre-post scripts, perfect, but it cannot.  Any suggestions please? With details. Thanks

REST API for TapeStorage and Media details

Hello, I’m using Commvault v11.32.28.In building some custom Python scripts that utilize the API I’ve found an endpoint that seems to be broken, or else I’m not using it properly.The endpoint is: /V4/Storage/Tape/{libraryId}/MediaMy understanding is that this is supposed to return media associated with a specific tape library. The “/V4/Storage/Tape” endpoint works, returning details about my library.But “/V4/Storage/Tape/{libraryId}/Media” gives me a status 200 (success), but no data.Is anyone else out there successfully gathering media details from the API?

Is it Possible to get hostName from ClientID

I’m integrating CommVault API in order to have all client ( VM, client which make backup and Kubernates Application) in a single dataframe./client route returns hostName,clientName,displayName/VM  returns several information of which returns clientName,displayName but not HostName/v4/Kubernetes/Applications return several information of which name but not displayName and HostNameWhile I know that a VM may not have a phisical hostName and kubernates Applications may not have an hostName since it’s dockerized containers, it is possible to have the hostName for Kubernates and VMs?/client has all 3 name columns(hostName,clientName,displayName)/VM has 2 name columns(clientName,displayName)/Applications has only one name column (name)Or, I can do the assumption thatVM Client Name can be added to hostnameKubernates application names can be considered as HostName?like hostName = clientName = name ?Thanks for all the clarification

automation and installation of commvault packages

Dear all, I need some help, the client is requesting an automated process for installing agents in commvault, so that on boot he can call this through a package configuration or something like that so that as soon as he starts the VM everything goes up the automatic installation, does commvault have any process of this type? It also needs this configuration for the commserver and media agents. Does the commvault tool have this type of automation?

Restore SQL database to Availability Group

via Command Center it is not possible to restore a SQL-database “in place” to an availability group. Does anybody have a workflow or Powershell-Script that can remove the database from the availability group before the restore … and back to the availability group after the restore? Any help is very much appreciated. Best regards. Michael
