Hi All,

- primary VMs backup to primary site local disk library retention keep 7 days 1 cycle

- second backup from primary backup to DR site local disk library retention keep 7 days 1 cycle

- tape backup from source second backup and tape retention keep 28 days 4 cycle

- tape backup from source second backup and tape retention keep 365 days 12 cycle

- tape backup from source second backup and tape retention keep 1825 days 5 cycle


Q1. any suggestion for Storage Policy CommServeDR retention keep if CommServeDR only backup to disk?

Q2. any suggestion for Storage Policy CommServeDR retention keep if CommServeDR backup to disk and tape?

Hello @Chinchilla 

The length and places you keep you data is 100% your choice. From a support side we recommend keeping a copy of the CS DR backup in at least 2 locations to bring you inline with best practice but out side of that it is your choice on how long you want to keep it for and how many you want to keep depending on your use case for the data. 

 

If you plan on only restoring from the latest in the event of a outage or corruption then you don't need to hold onto many copies of the DR backup. if you need it for Audit purposes, for example the Audit trail in the CSDB only goes back 1 year. If you need to have a full list of every action take by every admin with the audit trail then keeping your CS DR backup for longer would enable that.
