Hello,

I want to test the new v11.40 and deployed the Linux OVA. Is it possible to import the OVA to VMware workstation and do the configuration manually? In vSphere it will be done while imorting the OVA.

Thank you and regards, Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Unfortunately there is no such script as the OVA will deploy the OS and software with an empty config as it goes, so without the configuration details you’d just end up with a non-functional install on a Linux VM that you’d need to fix.

Best of luck in vSphere!

Hi Thomas,

This isn’t something we have tested/accounted for. If the OVA import in workstation allows you to set a root password and other such functions it should work but I cannot guarantee it. I would suggest trying it but if the configuration options normally presented in VMware vCenter don’t appear for workstation it is pretty unlikely to work as that defines the VM hostname and configuration details of the software inside.

Hi Jace,

Thank you. It is possible to open the VM, but without any vApp properties. So I hoped there is a script to config all properties after opening the VM. But anyway, I will import the OVA to vSphere.

Regards,

Thomas
