I try to do SQL DB point-in-time restore, may I restore SQL DB as new database name? looks like I  have to do SQL DB point-in-time restore to original location.

Your use case is 100% supported!  Point in time restores to another location are supported:

Hi @xiwen !

If I may ask, what is your end goal?  You can definitely do a restore of a SQL database to another location, though I susp[ect you might be trying to initiate a point in time restore to an existing database.

Can you try this process for an out of place restore?

We have one SQL DB called KMC, SQL DBA request to do point-in-time restore to original instance with KMC-Restore DB name.

Like like Commvailt only support restore to different instance during point-in-time restore, right?
