If I may ask, what is your end goal? You can definitely do a restore of a SQL database to another location, though I susp[ect you might be trying to initiate a point in time restore to an existing database.
Can you try this process for an out of place restore?
+8We have one SQL DB called KMC, SQL DBA request to do point-in-time restore to original instance with KMC-Restore DB name.
Like like Commvailt only support restore to different instance during point-in-time restore, right?
