Hi @Vishal Saini ,

PFB steps to perform domain name change for Commserv and Media agent.

  • CommCell Console:

    • Go to Control Panel > Name Management.
    • Select Update Domain Name.
    • Choose the old domain, enter the new domain name, and select the clients/servers to update.
    • If you encounter connectivity issues, verify DNS and firewall settings.
    • Ensure all clients, MediaAgents, and the CommServe can resolve each other's names in the new domain (use ping or nslookup).

Hi @Pradeep,

Thank you for your reply.

After changing the domain name on the CommServe server from commserve.abc.com to commserve.xyz.com, we observed that the Commvault services were impacted. Some services did not start automatically, and client communication was temporarily affected. and we observed that do not change the domain on the Commvault process manager.

Hi @Vishal Saini ,

Please keep the CommServe Console open while the name change is in progress. Once the change is completed on the AD server, use the Domain Change option from the Console Control Panel to avoid service disruption.

Additionally, review the evmgrs.log file to validate the behavior and confirm successful completion.

Hi @Pradeep

The steps mentioned above apply only to Commvault clients / MediaAgents, not to the master backup server (CommServe).

We need to change the domain name operating system level along with commserve application on the server.
