MS SQL Application aware backup is skipped

Forum|alt.badge.img+6

Hi all,

I am trying to do an Application aware backup of a virtual machine with MS SQL but I can’t.  Application aware backup is skipped, but VM backup completed successfully.

Any idea?

Thanks!

Matias

Hi all,

Application aware backup is working.

The problem was that agent based backup was configured to run in the instance.  I have found the following note in documentation.

Note

If an application database is already configured to be backed up by an application agent, it will not be backed up using the application-aware VM group.

Thanks,

Matias

Any error messages in the logs you can share?
Does the account you’re using have permissions?

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Scott,

The Job log says Error code: [19:857]

VM Group for this virtual machine is configured with local administrator, which has SYSADMIN permissions.

The SQL agent is installed in the virtual machine and database backup is running correctly.

Attached is the job log.

Thanks,

Matias
