Recently I have noticed that a number of our Postgress backups have their log file backups writing to a different Storage Policy from the data backups. If I change the log file backups to the same Storage Policy as the Data backups will this cause any problems.

Hi @Kiwi_Dave

Having separate storage policies for Data and Archive log backups is a flexibility that the product offers in cases like when you want

  1. To use a fast access library like a disk library for your frequent log backups.
  2. To have different retention for archive log backups than your data backups.

If you don’t have any such requirements, it is perfectly fine to use the same storage policy for both data and log backups.

Thanks,

Sunil-
