Hello all

We don’t currently back up our entire VM estate due to licence/cost limitations. We’re on a capacity licence and nearly at the limit so it’s buying time. I’ve been asked to work out how much capacity licence we would need to add to be able to back up all our VMs (from this we can somewhat factor in growth rates). Does Commvault provide a report or sizing tool to be able to see this easily? I can see what we’re currently using licence wise, and I can see all my unprotected (excluded) VMs under virtualization, but not how to easily put these together. if I did have to do this manually I’d be looking at the VM size wouldn’t I for the front end size?

Would my reseller have a sizing tool maybe? Or can mere mortals get that too?!

Thanks for any and all help.

Hello @Lucy

Tool for predicting the future capacity usage is something support team does not have since we are from break fix team however you can reach out to your Account Manager and they should be able to assist you further on this requirement.

For understanding calculation of the VM’s capacity, you can refer the link: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/122315_virtual_machines_in_capacity_calculation.html

For checking the summary on licenses, you can try to run License summary report. For more information, please refer: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/105350_license_summary_report_01.html
