Hi, Could you possibly assist me with this?

Commvault 11.32.119

Is there a way to promote a Synchronous Copy to the Primary Copy using Command Center?

Hi @Eduardo Braga

This is possible in SP36 and above. However, you can still try this in SP32 from Java console, and let us know if you face any issues.

https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/software/promoting_secondary_copy_to_primary_copy.html

Requirements:

  • The secondary copy must be a synchronous copy.

  • You must have the user permissions to create a storage policy copy.

  • To promote a secondary copy that is disabled, enable the secondary copy and then promote it.

  • You cannot promote Air Gap Protect copies, global secondary tape copies, archive copies, and snapshot copies.

Hi @Eduardo Braga ,

In Commvault 11.32.119, promoting a Synchronous Copy to a Primary Copy through Command Center is not supported.

This functionality is not included in Command Center for this release. For versions earlier than 11.36, promoting a Synchronous Copy to a Primary Copy can only be performed using the CommCell Console (Java GUI).

Support for this operation in Command Center was introduced in later releases, specifically starting with Commvault Platform Release 2024E (11.36) as per documentation on Promoting a Secondary Copy to Primary Copy.

Therefore, in version 11.32.119, the promoting a Synchronous Copy to a Primary Copy must be carried out using the CommCell Console.
