Hi all.

How would the procedure be, to do a Linux OS refresh from Rocky Linux to RHEL? The servers have local OS, ddb and index disks, and the MA’s have block storage mounted disks for the library.

The hardware need to be reused, so I just want to reinstall OS, but keep DDB, index, library data, server name and IP, so that the server can continue operations after the Linux OS refresh..

Any suggestions on how to do this and any recommendations appreciated.

Regards

There is some instructions here: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.42/commcell-console/mediaagent_hardware_refresh_overview.html

But it is pretty simple - you will need to ensure you retain the DDB and index. Theoretically those can be recovered from backup but will prolong getting back up and running.

Reinstall the OS, keep the same hostname (crucially), and IP, reinstall the MA software using the same client name, put the data back where it belongs (preferably back in its original path) and it should be good to go. All the major configuration is stored in the control plane database, which really makes redeployment easier.
