Dear Support Team,

Greetings!!

We have Commvault server, which is on hard disk, now I need to move it to SSD. So how can it be done? And if we take a new server, then the running server as it is file and whatever configuration will be transferred to that new server, then the same has to be copied. And the existing server has to be removed after moving backup old to new. So is this possible?

Thanks

Amol.

Hi @ITHelpdesk

We can migrate the existing CS normal HDD to SSD. refer below hardware refresh document and also kindly take DR backup before migration.

We can uninstall Commserve on the existing setup, reinstall on new SSD and restore the DR copy taken before uninstallation.
Make sure to move the DR copy outside the commserve before uninstalling the software.

@Pradeep

Thanks for reply Fast,

But we don't have DR setup here, so what can we do in this situation?

Thanks

Amol

@ITHelpdesk

DR setup is not required when we say DR backup it is referred to the commserve database backup.
Follow this document to run DR backup and verify the DR configuration.

Hi @ITHelpdesk ,

My colleague @Pradeep gave the right answer. From Commvault terms, what you are trying to achieve it called Hardware Refresh, and it is described in full detail in documentation;
