Best Practice to backup VMs & File-level for both Windows and Linux

Hello Commvault Community, We are running 11.32.35, right now we have around 70 VMs with Windows and Linux operating systems. We also have a single Media Agent running RHEL.To backup Windows-based VMs, do we need to deploy Windows MA or can we leverage it with existing RHEL MA? Then what about the VSA, is it also has to be windows-based? Please suggest.

Good dayIf you have a pseudo client setup (MondoDB) with the nodes listed in the configuration, is it possible to generate a report against that pseudo client which will then show the list of nodes that form part of it?A customer is interested in this type of information so that it can be pulled into a 3rd part report.

Commvault 11.32.47 - File system backup trying to back up "old" folders?

Customer contacted us saying they saw a File system backup job “Completed with errors”.Found in job history details that 5-6 objects failed due to “access is denied”.I mentioned this to the customer, and it appears the failed objects are folders that were deleted 3 days ago.I guess Commvault is running some kind of indexing before a backup job starts(?), but I don’t know why it still “sees” the deleted folders during indexing or backup..?Can I force update the index somehow? Is this even caused by a problem with index?(Since the folders were deleted there has been 2 Completed with errors with reference to the same folders. I suspect the backup today will be the same..)

Worm copies cycles

HelloWe have worm enabled copies. The retention is 10 days and 1 cycle.Now we have a server that is decomissioned and backups have expiered after 20 days, so we are cleaning up the stg copies. But coming to the worm copy we can’t get rid of it due to that we can’t manually delete a job from it. As it is now it seems the backup jobs will be in there forever.I know we can do the process for unlocking the worm setting via support.Is there a best practicies regarding worm enabled copies in the respect of cycles?Am I right to assumethat, If we would set the cycles to 0 the job would prune off correctly?BRHenke

Exchange online backup fails. possible Corrupt index?

Restore File & SQL DB directly in a Azure Blob

Hello. We would like to restore some files and SQL DB backups nightly directly into a Azure Blob. I know that I can schedule this type of restores. (latest backup & advanced restore options for SQL)But:Is it possible to restore directly into a Azure Blob? I am trying to find a solution in the scheduler to keep my monthly backups in one weekend.At the moment my monthly backups are configured to run the first Saturday and the first Sunday, but these two days aren’t always in the same weekend.How do I adapt the scheduler to select the monthly fulls from the same weekend?

FS Agent taking to long

Hello, I have some issue with finishing on time with FS Agent backup, the widow time is 6 hours. Till 2 weeks ago i had no probleem with scanning and then starting backup., but now the scan taking to long and then starting of backup taking to long aswell.  Here is some logs of last failed backup. The backup staerting at 2AM, the scan finished at 5AM, there is 3 hour more to take the backup and 8 am the job wil be killed because of run time.  The amount of files is not really changed

Disaster Recovery Backup at 95% for a week

Disaster Recovery Backup was all running well. Now there’s a job that has been running for a week, stuck at 95% and I can’t kill the job.The ‘Reason for job delay’ is:Error Code: [19:2198]Description: Copying of Disaster recovery files to staging location is in progress.Source: cvrvi01-cv, Process: JobManager There’s plenty of space on the local drive where the DR backups are saved. The Agent Restartability matrix suggests that an Exhange Mailbox archive operation will restart from the point-of-failure. Can anyone confirm whether, at an individual mailbox level, this means that the operation will continue on from the last protected mail item, or does it start from the beginning for that mailbox?
