Microsoft SQL Server patching -Linux CommServe questions

Hi all,

The limitation noted under Limitations of Linux CommServe Server (commvault.com) : So, is it saying that once you go this route of running the CS on Linux you’re stuck on that particular level of MSSQL forever, or, is it saying that we cannot patch SQL separately and Commvault will take care of security updates and such as part of normal Commvault updates?

The other question I have is the “Legacy Active Directory Single Sign-On” limitation on that same page - is this saying that SSO works for Azure or that with the RHEL CS SSO is a non-starter regardless?

thanks

Hi @downhill,

That SQL Server update limitation is a mistake that is being corrected. SQL Server Cumulative Updates are applied automatically during Maintenance Release installation.

AD authentication works, but you have to type the password. It’s not automatic.

Hi, are you already running the CS on linux? Curious which version and did you have any issues with

upgrading?

Thanks

@Libi Went from 11.28 on Win to 11.32 on Linux. No issues upgrading the DB, it went very fast.

There were a couple quirks to deal with (learning opportunities) but no showstoppers, moving forward with the rest of the CS conversions is underway.
