Based on CM's documentation, you can accelerate backups by installing the Storage Accelerator software on clients.
Question: Is this functionality supported when the StoreOnce appliance is connected with Commvault via Fiber Channel?

No this is not compatible with your setup. What storage accelerator does is allow clients themselves to directly write to storage media without going through an intermediate Media Agent. It is more used for cloud libraries or NAS devices using file shares as storage targets - these can all be accessed directly without having to go through a dedicated Media Agent first. In your case, only your media agent has access to the catalyst via FC.
