Hello All,

we have Mongo Sharded Configuration backup on COmmvault. We backup it daily full. As you know COmmvault take snapshot before backup and , It deletes snapshots after backup copy. When I check the client on Commvault there is not any snphot presented. But There are many snapshot taken by COmmvault on host. İs it fine if we delete them manuelly or how can we delete them? Commvault should delete them automaticly right?

Snapshots on host:

They should be automatically deleted - would have to dive into the logs to see why they are not. If there are no jobs associated with the snap primary of this client then they should be OK to delete using something like dmsetup remove

Might be worth cleaning them up and then checking again. Also ensure this is configured correctly:

For LVM snapshots, an inline backup copy is triggered after the snap backup is complete. The snapshot retention for LVM snapshot copy must be set to 0 days in the server plan associated with the MongoDB cluster.

It could be that the retention has been set higher and therefore the snapshots are retained

Hello @Damian Andre

The snapshot retention for LVM snapshot copy has already  be set to 0 days. WHen I check snapshot on COmmvault I dont see any snapshot.

Sometimes we deleted it from commvault with the force erase snapshot command.  could it have affected it?

Hmm I dont think so. I think clean up what is left over and see if it continues to happen. If so the logs might be able to tell why the snapshot is not attempting to be removed or why it is failing to be removed.
