Hi Team,

I would like to understand, exactly what the “Air Gap Protection” do?

Is it just MRR storage target which can store backup copies, or will it have any core Air gap capabilities like restrict/isolate the access to stored data?

Hi @Mani

Air gapping is the isolation and segmentation of secondary or tertiary backup copies from source environments–making them inaccessible from the connected corporate network. Combined with immutable storage and rapid restore/recovery capabilities, air gapping is a must-have to keep your backup data safe from increasingly frequent and sophisticated cyberthreats. Enhance your cyber resilience and security with isolated, immutable storage The power of air gap Preventing, responding to, and recovering from an attack has become a critical focal point within the organizational landscape. As cybersecurity risks evolve, data estates grow, and IT resources shrink, organizations need a proactive way of defending data and securing distributed endpoints, software, and network connections. That’s where air gapping comes in

Let me know if there is any specific information required we can surely assist.

Hi Pradeep,

Thanks for the details.

I am referring, we have option called “Air Gap Protect” in the CC as shown below and I am looking for the purpose of that option.

@Mani
The purpose of the option is to make the target storage as Air Gap protected.
Commvault’s network topology and workflow engine provide the basis for configuring data isolation and air gap solutions.

I would request to read through the below document to understand on how they work
