Hi. New to CV. I was under the impression that VM that have been retired would be deleted after their retention period.

I recommend reading about Commvault's data lifecycle. In short, after the retention period, there’s an operation called Data Aging, which manages the reten data following the pruning process, known as "physical deletion.
So if you have an issue with this, could you check the Data Retention Forecast Report? Also, make sure you’ve enabled data pruning at the library/storage policy level.
