To strengthen your security posture and lessen the impact of ransomware assaults, we're introducing stronger data security and protection in the semi-annual Platform Release 2023. Coupled with increased cost savings and operational effectiveness, Commvault Platform Release 2023 (PR2023), is an evolution to how customers support their hybrid and multi-cloud strategies.

Hybrid & Multi-Cloud Management

Virtually every company leverages cloud resources, utilizing resources spread far and wide across various public and private cloud infrastructures. Organizations are supporting legacy systems through modern cloud services front ends in many cases. These solutions result in tool proliferation that only exacerbates itself with the dozens to hundreds of services customers may use on the platforms. Below is list of key features for each of the major public clouds.

Amazon AWS Microsoft Azure Google GCP Oracle OCI

Amazon FSx for NetApp

UEFI Bios conversion

Azure DevOps Protection

Azure Restore Points support

Improved installation experience

Regional Snapshot support

HTTP Proxy support for GCP Access Nodes

Parity for compute (VM) protection

Credential Manager support for OCI

Infrequent access and Combined tier support

Enhanced Security

Ransomware and data security are at the forefront of every customer’s mind AND budget. Customers getting ransomware insurance now must prove they have strategies in place to protect and recover their data should an attack occur. It’s not enough just to recover but recover quickly to get back to business. How can customers proactively become aware of cyber threats, bad actors, ongoing attacks?

These are the problems we are addressing for customers with PR2023. We are bringing new features including deeper SIEM integrations to help customers integrate the Commvault platform with their security tools. This new integration allows customers to push alerts, events, and audit trail data into their security management platform, eg. Microsoft Sentinel or Splunk.

Increased Cost Savings

While ransomware and data security budgets remain flush, customers in every industry are looking to cut costs in their budgets to make up for the increased spend for security. Every customer looks to find ways to save money or optimize their ongoing spend efficiently. Being able to have options to lower the cost for data protection is critical to our story to customers. New capabilities to use single region snapshots vs. multi-region snapshots for GCP can save 30% of that cost to backup. Sometimes improving cost is as simple as reducing the time it takes to protect applications. Our optimizations for Hadoop, leveraging snapdiff, can take what was hours long backups to just minutes thanks to the improvements in how we scan for changed blocks.

Commvault Platform Release 2023 introduces dozens of new capabilities, feature enhancements, and platform support.
