Front end data report

Hmmm, so they are looking for space used per job and looking for it to add up to the disk space used?  I assumed they just wanted to see what ‘collection’ wrote what size of files on the disk.You pretty much nailed it on the original post.  If you’re doing deduplication (and I assume you are) then you’ll almost never get that to add up.  Job 1 writes the while baseline and jobs 2+ only write the changed blocks.However, once the base jobs age off, then the reports will leave those sizes out and the reports won’t match.I know you know this already, though hopefully this explanation will satisfy them?  Otherwise, just check the store sizes of all copies, then add in the Aux Copies (if not deduped).

File Archive stub restore not working on some files

That’s definitely the issue in red.  Now, what’s the cause?  Could be a few things.Check the backup logs if possible, though I’d advise contacting support directly.I’d want to know what happened, but also if any OTHER files are affected.

Anomaly alerts for Job Completed?

CommServe Anomaly Alert Operation / Admin Alert This alert is enabled by default. This alert notifies the user when the system finds anomalies compared to the system thresholds calculated based on the historical data: Anomaly in DDB Pruning: The number of deduplication database prunable blocks or CommServe job records that should be deleted does not drop for a considerable period of time, which indicates an unusual performance drop in for the deduplication database that reported the issue. File Archive stub restore not working on some files

@RobsterFine , when you try and restore via the stub, does a restore job kick off (and just place the stub there), or does nothing really happen?It almost sounds like the archiving job somehow stubbed a stub.

Our SMEs are great and responsive!There’s a form ID to address this:165952However, it won’t be out for a bit.  If you contact support and give them the form ID, they can get dev approval to add the registry key to get past this message until the fix is out.

@NG_Pawel the Jobs In Storage Policy copy would be your best bet.  Might need to output to Excel and add it up there, but this should give you what you need for Data Written.However, if the base jobs have aged off, you may not get a full picture.  Run the report and see what you end up with.You should also be able to review the various Deduplication Engines writing to this library and see the data written there.

@VBalazs , the answer to all of that is a bit long, but I think will help figure what (if anything awry) is going on.I’m copying the answer I gave on another thread which covers the main beats:That’s a very good question, and the explanation is a bit long…..so bear with me Assuming Deduplication is involved (which these days, is almost always the case), the Commserve itself is not really handling the actual pruning.Here’s what happens at a high-ish level:Data Aging runs on the CS and all logical Job IDs that have met all retention rules are marked for aging The CS sends the Media Agent(s) a list of ALL of the individual Archive Files (MMDeletedAF table) from those aged jobs The Media Agent(s) gets this list, and connects to the Dedupe Database (which has 3 tables: Primary - The unique block by hash, Secondary - the number of job references per Primary record, and ZeroRef - The primary blocks no longer referenced/needed) The Media Agent applies the list of those Archive Files to the Sec

I agree, likely a support case.   You can check FileScan.log and Clbackup.log for further details, though if that comes up empty, open a support case and share the number here.

@Marco Lachance , hope all is well!The consensus here is that it should be fine since you’re only changing the way it’s mounted, though we don’t know for sure 100%.DDBoost allows a client can write directly to the DD and bypass the hops to the MA.

Failed objects log file

Perfect!  So the files exist on scan, but by the time the backlup runs, they are gone (most likely explanation).Are there other files in this folder that are worth backing up (as in, should you just filter these folders) or perhaps the file types?We should start by figuring out what kind of data is in these folders.  If it’s all temp files, then this can’t be ignored.I would expect if you made a smaller subclient with JUST one of these folders, they would complete fast enough to grab the files.
