Hi Community,I’m experiencing a strange behavior from my CommServe.When running Check Readiness on some clients, the first attempt (and sometimes the second) shows the status as Disconnected. However, after trying 3 or more times, it finally changes to Ready. Network connectivity is stable with no significant latency. The issue occurs with multiple clients, not just one. Once the client is marked as Ready, backups run without issues. Has anyone encountered this behavior before?I appreciate any guidance or similar experiences.

Hi, We’ve upgrade from v 11.36.49 to 11.36.68.The upgrade appeared to complete successfully on the Commserve, however I noticed the MongoDB service was failing to start and kept retrying.From the logs I can see the error “featurecompatibilityversion 4.2 expected 6.0 or 6.3 or 7.0”. On further investigation I can see the mongod.exe has been upgraded to v7 however the featurecompatibility has been left as 4.2.  Replacing the .exe with a version 4.2 has resolved the issue, services start and all ok.My questions are, I’ve seen the kb about manually upgrading minor versions, but how is it possible to upgrade to v7? CV doesn’t support manually upgrading major version.Will running v4.2 cause any problems, it appears to have been fine for the last few days since I’ve done this.Will this resolve in the next upgrade?  Is this a known issue for 11.36.68?

Hi, Some of my colleagues and I have noticed that as of recently, the ‘Expert’ section on https://documentation.commvault.com appears to no longer be available, as least not the way it used to be. The section does not appear in the navigation, regardless of whether viewing documentation for 11.32, 11,40, etc.;  The section can still be accessed by navigating to a specific URL (e.g.: https://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/expert/troubleshooting_restores_oracle_agent_01.html) though it will redirect to /commcell-console/ rather than /expert/. Here, ‘Commcell Console’ (previously ‘Expert’) is in fact shown as a navigation section;  Additionally, it seems that logging in with a Commvault account does not make any difference. The section won’t appear regardless of whether you are logged in or not. In fact, the Expert/Commcell Console articles are visible to anyone directly navigating to the URL, even when not logged in.  Can we expect this section to become visible available again? Perha

Hello all,I have a virtual environment on VMware that I back up with Commvault. The first copy is stored on local storage, and the second copy is made to Azure Archive Blob combined with the Cool tier. For both copies, I have deduplication enabled. I have a question about the restore process when deduplication is enabled: will the restore process recall/rehydrate all data related to the deduplication database, or only the data related to the specific job I need to restore?I have been looking for information in the community but could not find anything regarding deduplication enabled for the Archive tier.Thank you in advance.

Based on our current Commvault infrastructure: We have one CommServe and a Media Agent at the DC location. A Standby CommServe has recently been configured in Azure, and we successfully tested a planned failover. During the test, we were able to run backup and restore jobs using the Standby host while the Production CommServe (services) was down. Now, we would like to extend our testing to include the Media Agent as well, specifically for a scenario where both the Production CommServe and the Media Agent at DC are unavailable.From the planned failover test, we have confirmed that the Standby CommServe can take over. However, in the event of a complete DC outage (CommServe and Media Agent down together), we need clarity on how to proceed.Our current policy setup is: Primary copies → Local storage (without DDB). Hello everyone, Our customer has this interesting question about Hyperscale security.We were explaining WORM to him and how it protects data from deletion at software and OS level.He asked: What if I go to a lower level? What if I connect to the hardware management interface (iLO, BMC, etc.) and delete the whole server? Does Hyperscale implement any security measure to avoid this from happening?Indeed, BMC has some options to eject and even delete disks securely… so this would mean that Hyperscale’s WORM is not as resilient as expected… Does Hyperscale provide any mechanism at that level to avoid the execution of these actions? or would we need to rely on the security features of each hardware vendor?Btw, this is for HyperscaleX Reference Architecture option. Thanks in advance.

After setting up livesync for the CS’s, someone inadvertently set a plan for the “empty” default SC which is auto created when that new primary SQL client is created. Since the plan cannot be deselected from the default SC nor can the schedule be disabled obviously, the thing fails every day and if we disable the activity on it that also is flagged for various checks, so, it’s rather annoying. How can we forceably detach a plan from it and keep it silent with no SP assigned to it like it should be?thanks

Hi All, Was thinking of asking question here - maybe faster response and fresh heads will do the trick :)Problem:Previously on SP16 we had SNMP enabler installed, working for quite some time and then suddenly when you are trying to configure alert with SNMP option - it is greyed out!Only idea to fix that was to reinstall it..:Incident 200415-375Now we are again facing the same issue where SNMP is greyed out again - without any notification why - and this time I would like to solve this without re installing the software for it.Commcell version: 11.20.40SNMP enabler is installed: Any ideas where I could look for clues? V11 SP36 I have this situation where we take a VSA backup of VmWare servers, the deletion of the snapshot can take sometime for two or three servers and causes a warning, when in reality the backup is fine The Delete Snapshot can take one or two hours, as a consequece the Commvault seems to register the ‘Delete Snapshot Duration’ as 30 minutes and a few seconds  In this case the snapshot was deleted after 55 minutesIs there any setting or something else, that could override the warning message?Thanks Mark 

Hi guys,We are currently on the proccess of configuring WORM S3 Object Locking + Commvault 11.36 + Deduplication.The requirements is to enable WORM on the following JOBS:4 weekly Fulls24 monthy Fulls5 Yearly FullsThe thing is that we are not able (we dont know if we are doing something wrong) on applying Extended Retentions on Deduplicated S3 Object Lock Storage pools. (If we disable deduplication is posible to configure Extended Retentions).That means we have to have 3 different buckets 1 for each retention.If we sum the periodically sealing of DDB (yearly or less..) that means HUGE space needed with this configuration. Do you know if it’s possible to apply extended retention on deduplicated S3 object Lock configured Storage Pools?Thanks!!

Hello together,I was moving one of our customers from NAKIVO Backup (https://www.nakivo.com/) to Commvault Backup. It worked … but. On NAKIVO the customer used immutable snapshots. Commvault Intellisnap seems to use writeable snapshots and I did not find a way to change this behaviour. Did I miss something or is this not supported? Here you see the snapshots on the Alletra … there is a lock symbol for the immutable snapshots and this is missig when Commvault is starting the Intellisnap backups. Regards.Michael  

I see that the api.commvault.com has not been updated with information about SP40.Latest version to be selected is SP38Does this mean that api-documentation for 11.38 is the one to use for 11.40, or has it just not been published yet?Planning an upgrade to 11.40 and wants to make sure if there is any changes to the API’s I’m currently using, to ensure a smooth transition.

Hi Team, After upgrading from 11.36.32 to 55 and then 68, MSSQL Job Type is now empty in Job Controller. Will it no longer appear? It was actually useful in some cases. Is there any logical reason to hide this ?  

Hello All,My company has two lines of business and a single CommCell for both. Each line of business has its own virtualization environment with VMware and NAS data, all based on NetApp, with different storage policies for each line and kind. There is only one Media Agent and one DAS disk library on that Media Agent used for all policies, plus a third AirGap library. We use IntelliSnap for both VMware and CIFS. After the NetApp snapshot (for both NAS and VMs), we perform a backup copy for VM and NDMP for CIFS, sending all data to the same DAS disk library with a single mount path, plus Aux copy to AirGap.Now, we want to split that CommCell to separate the lines of business, and we have a new disk library and a new Media Agent ready for the line of business that will be moved to the new CommCell.I’ve reviewed the documentation on CommCell Splitting and CommCell Migration, and I believe Splitting would be the right approach. Background: We have 2 media agents at a secondary site that each have a single “data” mount path to storage that we just hit 256 TB on (OS refuses to expand them further, its using 64kb blocks).  The media agents have their storage/mount path mapped to that dedicated storage volume (like X:\) and then they also map (in commvault) to the other media agent.  So each media agent can read/write to either X:\ on either media agent.Note: All the volumes in commvault are pointing to the same dedicated storage array (that only commvault uses)Questions: Since we cannot expand the existing mount path storage beyond 256 TB for either mount, a few options are being explored:Make a new volume and format it to 128 kb blocks, so it can grow to 512 TB is needed. Then do a “move mount path” of the 256 TB bound volume to the 512TB bound one. result: we have a single mount point per media agent, and it just is really big. using 128 kb blocks seems like a “probably don’t want to do” from some online thing

A storage pool was sealed about a month ago. All jobs for that DDB appear to be gone, and the old folders are no longer seen under the physical paths for each partition, yet the backing storage has yet to be freed up to pre-sealed levels. Meaning - when do those old chunks get pruned from the libraries?Space reclamation fails because the DDB paths aren’t around anymore obviously. There appears to be over 150TB locked up in the S3 library used by the DDB.thanks
