Hello,We’re going to deploy the commvault cassandra agent on a cluster (first time for both us and the client, as of right now they’re using medusa to manage cassandra backups) and the cassandra cluster will be in a different security zone to the commvault backend. As such, we need to make internal requests to open the necessary ports between zones.My question concerns the Staged type of restore, and ports 7000,9042/7001,9142 specifically.From what i gather from the commvault docs, the way a Staged restore works is, the tables are pulled from storage (in our case cloud storage, either S3 or DataDomain), temporarily copied to a directory on a Staging Location (where SSTableLoader runs for this type of restore) and then streamed into the Cassandra nodes. I’d like to know the following:The way i understand it, the host of the Staging Location needs to be the Media Agent. Please confirm if this is true and if not, what would be the alternatives for hosting this Staging Location. The stagin

It has been a while since i last read anything about WORM (Storage Lock) in Commvault and wanted to make sure I`m not misunderstanding or missing anything. My general understanding is that once WORM Storage Lock is configured and retention criteria is met, DDB is sealed. Once DDB is sealed nothing else is written to that DDB.New DDB is created and as per Arlie confirmation, the next job regardless of what the schedule policy may start (lets say an Incremental) that job gets automatically converted to Full Job so the baseline is estabilished. No issue until here unless Im missing something. The above statement used to be in the documentation (not sure if Im just not finding it or it was rephrased) but I simple cant find.Instead when looking at the documentation for WORM: https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/commcell-console/recommendations_for_worm_storage_01.html  it says "Add the ForceFullOnWORMDDBSeal additional setting to convert the next backup to synthetic full backup after s

We are currently using Commvault v10, and we have data stored on tape that we need to restore directly to a Synology NAS Unit system, which is mapped to the media server. This is necessary because there isn't enough space on the media server itself. However, when I select the media agent for the restore destination, the network locations are not showing up. Additionally, since it's a NAS unit, we are unable to install the Commvault agent on it. 

hi,For any of you still using tape on Linux MA’s, I was wondering if there’s a way to force the Expert Storage Configuration to use the alias (friendly names) created by udev rules for those devices and the changer?Setting up udev rules isn’t that hard and I know RH says that WWNN’s used “by-id” are automagic, but the names are never human intuitive. Plus we’ve seen some issues whereby rebooting the MA is a crapshoot that means sometimes the drives all work and mount media fine, and sometimes it’s no dice. I could never see the changes noted in the events and so created udev rules to try and keep things consistent, but the field can’t be edited in expert storage config under any circumstances, it just finds the ../scsi-blah devices and not any of the aliases.

Hello, i want you to ask what is your feeling or experience with Commserve on Linux ? We run at the moment a lot of tests with Commserve on Linux and we think it is a very good solution but i want to know what you thinking about !  so may you can tell me your experience and feeling about this new feature! Cheers 

Hi Folks,we need to create quite a lot of custom packages (rpm) for linux clients on a regular basis (SAP-Oracle, SAP-Hana, Linux-fs, and so on.)We are currently doing this via ./cvpkgadd and then clicking through a lot of pages until the custom package is finished at the end. is there a way to automate this process via some command line where all necessary options (most of them can be left at the default value) are provided (which packages to include, to which commserve to connect to, ...)?Thanks for any ideas on this :)

When trying to assign any data classification plan with our clients it shows this error??Someone please can help? (PlanID-[Number] is marked incomplete. No entity can be associated to the plan) NB: There is no missing setting related to this plan or any new plan with the same error.   

Hello,I am trying to recover a backup of a client VSA virtual machine from a secondary copy that was copied to tape approximately 5 years ago.The index version of the VSA client is V1 (I plan to migrate this VSA client to V2 next month. It’s the last client I have left to migrate). Hi all,My customer is currently using S3 Glacier Deep Archive with Combined Tier: S3 Standard-Infrequent Access. So far, so good.However, they would like to use S3 Cross Region Replication, which does not replicate data written to the Deep Archive tier. So we are looking for an alternative solution.One alternative solution would be to use S3 Intelligent-Tiering (the Combined Tier is not available then). We believe that would allow the objects to be replicated before they are moved to the Deep Archive Tier.But I am unable to find a clear description on how that actually works with Commvault. Is all data indeed initially written to the “warm” tier? Will it allow the data to be replicated by CRR? Who determines which data can be moved to the Deep Archive Tier? Is that Amazon or Commvault? If it’s Amazon that determines which data can be moved to the Archive Tier, how do we ensure metadata and indexes are kept in the warm tier, even if they are not accessed for a while? Hope somebody can e

Hello,I have a question regarding Intellisnap. Works well if I enable it here I have some PosgreSQL VMs  hosted on VMware VXrailOn the VMs there is the PosgreSQL agent installed.I tried to enable intellisnap but it failsDBA team performs refresh environnements using the command center assistant and select the destination server. to improve restoration process, is it possible to use intellisnap on the posgreSQL agent to perform snapshots on the source VM and use these snapshots to perform the refresh on the destination ?I read the Commvault documentations and in my understanding, we can do that only with Hardware snap engine isn’t it  ?Thanks

Hi,My Commserve has two network interfaces - one for backup traffic and everything, and second for management. For example: NIC1: cv-cs.domain.local and NIC2: cv-cs-mgmt.domain.local. When I click “Command Center” from Java Console, it redirects me to NIC1 hostname. Is there any option to edit default webserver address to second hostname? It works when I just enter cv-cs-mgmt.domain.local, but I would like to have all redirections working, like this “Command Center” button from Java GUI, hyperlinks from e-mail alerts etc.Regards,Mat

Hi,When Commvault Complete licensing was released, there was a restriction that would not allow mixing TB licenses (CV-BR-FT) with instance licenses (CV-BR-VM10 and/or CV-BR-OI).I was wondering if that restriction is still active.The licensing program guide seems to be referring to the new licensing only.Please advise.Regards,Sergio

We are currently using Metallic for Microsoft 365 applications Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business.  This was setup by a previous employee, and I am having trouble understanding how it all works.    For Exchange Online and OneDrive for Business, I would like to setup Plans to coordinate with our retention policies.   For example:Standard employees – Retain mailbox and OneDrive data for 2 years after termination.  I created a m365_2yr plan. Can someone please clarify what each of these Retention settings are?Retain deleted items for 730 days – If a user permanently deletes an email or a document from OneDrive, will it purge the deleted items after 730 days even if the user is still active?   Then once a user has been terminated or removed from backups will it retain the data for 2 years after that date?  Retain backed up version for 365 days – what does this refer to?   Does it pertain to Exchange or OneDrive? Thank you in advance for any clarification you can
