We recently had a scare when Commvault upgraded us to a new feature that we “Thought” our Media Agent couldn’t handle.  Thankfully we were wrong but we want to disable auto updates.  The ticket I had open they said to do the below.  I can not find this option at all.  When I do searches it talks about disabling it in the schedules but I am not seeing the updates in the commcell schedule either.  Not sure what I am doing wrong.Steps:Open the CommCell Console. Hi All. I have build a new setup with MediaAgents and a CommServe installed with RedHat Linux. Is it possible to disable the root account like you are in a HyperScaleX setup where you need to enable the root access from within the CommandCenter. I really like this feature, so I would like to get et on my normal MediaAgents as well. I see that is possible via the CommServe bare metal setup and you can download a workflow described in the below link:https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/software/enabling_or_disabling_root_access_for_commserve_bare_metal.html Install and deploy the HyperScale OS Node Root Access workflow from the Commvault Store. But I’m unsure if it will work on my MediaAgents and my CommServe. Regards-Anders

Hey Community,A couple of days ago, I received an email with this anomaly notification “Garbage Collection Delay in DDB Stores.” What does this issue indicate, and what should I be checking when this appears?When I click the link to see the more details about this notification, it opens a DDB Pruning Performance Anomaly Report, but it doesn’t seem to provide any useful information. I’m working with a customer to test Proxmox backups and am a bit confused.  When I go to the Proxmox config page I don’t have an access node which is expected since we haven’t set it up yet.  When I click on the link to download it, I get an VSA_x64.exe, which is a Windows executable.  From documentation I understand we have to install it on at least one of the cluster nodes which are a flavor of linux.  Is the idea to download the CV linux binaries using the VSA_x64 executable?  If so, what would be the proper package(s)? Also, it is a little confusing with the documentation as I’m reading it; do we need VSA installed on all the nodes in the cluster or just a single node to act as the access node?Thanks in advance!

Hi,I have few questions about compliance lock and the retention of last full backup.How does the retention of the last full backup work in a storage with a compliance lock? Is the retention for the last full backup updated when a new full backup is added at the end of the month? I know that compliance lock can't lower the retention.For example, if a full backup occurred on the 15th day of the month considered as the last full backup of month and the retention is set to 1 year, but on the 30th day of the month a new full backup occurred and it is the real last full backup of the month, does the first full backup will update the retention date even if it is in a storage with compliance lock.Is it recommended to select "Last full backup" for a extended retention job with compliance lock? Do you recommended to use instead "First full backup" with compliance lock? What is the best practice?

Hi,Is it possible to show which user and what files were download from the WebConsole?For example, if I’m restoring any file I’m getting a job with details, but for the download action I can see the action in the audit trail report but with now details of the user or the file itself, I can see only the browse action of the folder Thanks

I have an Oracle 12.1 environment and need to keep the archive logs for 24 hours. I tried multiple configurations:Subclients (Default and ArchiveLog): Tested with “Archive Delete” enabled and disabled. Schedule: Tried “Delete Archive Log” with: Older than 1 day and Backed up 2 times. Also tested with these options disabled. Results: The only change occurred when using Older than 1 day and Backed up 2 times, which added the following line:delete noprompt archivelog until time = 'sysdate-1' backed up 2 times to sbt;However, the line:(archivelog all delete input);remains in the script, and I don’t know how to remove it.I will try a custom script, but I prefer a Commvault solution. During my research, I found a possible approach using three subclients:Default: Full backup + archive logs without deleting. Archivelogs: Hourly backups of archive logs without deleting. DeleteArchive: Daily deletion of archive logs.For now, this option is not possible because even with every delete flag disabl

I need to know whether we can connect an S3-compatible repository provided by the customer (“cloud storage”) to Commvault in order to store additional backups as an “off-site” copy. Technically, we know that the connection is possible in principle, but the issue of encryption arose during the project. Could Commvault encrypt this backup with a separate key that is only available to the customer? It is crucial for the customer that the data is protected by its own key and can only be managed by the customer, rather than being encrypted with the general Commvault key. Otherwise, in the worst case scenario, the customer would no longer be able to access the data and would not be able to decrypt it due to the lack of a key. The question is whether it is even possible to restore data on S3 storage that has been backed up with Commvault without running Commserve.

Good morning, We are new to postgres databases and are implementing our first production cluster soon.  What are you all using for your log backups in terms of scheduling?  We are running in continuous archive mode and currently have backups every 15 minutes.  Even 2G  backups are taking under a minute. What are the considerations for setting this? If our RPO is 5 minutes, would it make sense to backup every 5 minutes, or is that trying to fit Commvault into a high availability box that it is not designed for?If using FSBasedBackups, are you also using regularly scheduled dump based backups?  In what scenario? Thank you very much, this forum has been fantastic!-Chris
