automaticly abort a running job when a specific error occurs

Hi,I am looking for a way to automaticly abort a running job or at least start a workflow (with which I then abort the job) when a specific error occurs in a certain storage policy. Is this possible in CommVault?The background is that every 10-12 days there is an issue with the VMWare backup copy (“VDDK thread timeout, possible VDDK deadlock encountered”), and afterwards, all VMs are backed up very slowly using only NBD. After restarting the job, the NAS transport mode is used again (at least for 95% of the VMs).Best regardsFrank

Assigning new SP and trigerring a Full backup fails

Hi,I have created a new SP and Dedup DB and assigned it to an existing MA. Created a new Index as well.Selected a particular client machine that was connected to this MA and changed the SP on this client to the newly created SP however after clicking on Full Backup the system by default shows Incremental in the Job Window and fails with an error ‘Index Restore” - There is no active controller for this device. For some reason it is not running a full backup. Am I missing a step or two somewhere?Env - Commvaut 10 R2 Simpana

additional setting to limit cpu usage on Oracle servers

Some years back we ran into a problem with cpu usage spiking during backups and someone in commvault suggested an additional setting that limited cpu usage it leveraged the OS to prevent cpu usage going through the roof and was expressed in percentage. i forget the name of the additional setting. Can someone help?thanks.

Upgrade from 11.24 to 11.28, depreciated clients

Hi,I have 11.24 release installed and plan upgrade to 11.28 (in this release Windows Server 2012-2012 R2 depreciated). Could you say please:1) What will happen with agents which are installed on depreciated OS  after Commserve and media agents will be updated to 11.28, will it continue to work normally?2) What will happen with support if I have Commserve version 11.28 but clients run 11.24 (which also is still under support and supports older OS)? Hi, We will implementing vm livesync to DR, but considering bandwidth limitation can we set livesync data from secondary copy. https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/100033_live_sync_options_for_subclient_vmware.htmlwhat i learn from this link is no option to choose from which backup copy we doing livesync. so does livesync limitation on primary backup only?

Questions about Continous Replica

Hi everyone, I have some questions about continous replica (vaio).The first question is about RPO: what is the minimum RPO that can be achieved with the vaio replica? Can it also be of seconds? And the retention of how many hours or days is it?The second is about the issue described here: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/disaster_recovery/106456_known_issues_for_continuous_replication_in_command_center.html“If a virtual machine is replicated to a destination site and you perform a restore operation for the VM at the destination site, the replicated VM and the restored VM have the same UUID” What exatly mean? Do I have to answer “I copied” everytime I power on a replica vm? Thank you

HyperScale Active backup bonding Configu

HiWe want to configure Hyperscale data and storage network interfaces with bonding option but currenlty we do not have network resources for second network interface cable connection to switch for both data and storage networks. Can we configured Hyperscale with one interface for data and storage and later we can connect second interface for data and storage and configured bodnding for both networks. wihtout losing any configuration or backup data.Because with one cable connection for data and storage network we cannot configured bonding correct?Thanks

What is the highest limit/threshold for a extra large commserve

Hi All,Just to check what is the highest limit or threshold for an extra large commserve? The following is extracted from documentation.commvault.Supports up to 10,000 servers, or 20,000 virtual machines, or 50,000 laptops in a single CommCell environment.So in my customer environment , we are having 10000 office 365 mailboxes/users ( looking to grow to 30000 in next 2 years ),3000 Vms and 300 physical servers. Can our extra large commserve able to support the above assets ? I am worry about the scaling of the 0365 mailboxes. Each 0365 mailbox is treated as 1 server entity as well

1-touch linux restore generating fstab file--feature request.

Not sure how old this behavior is but im using the latest Linux 1-touch 11.28 x64 iso. I restored a linux server to original hardware. When booting the server after restore, we noticed the nfs volumes were not mounted. they were usually mounted in the fstab file. When i looked at the fstab file it was not the original we used but a new one created automatically by the restore. It looks like it saved the original fstab in a backup file. Its easy to fix, either manually edit the fstab file or restore the old one but its strange we have to do this.There is an option to ‘Retain only selected mount points in /etc/fstab’ (checked by default) I tried to test it with this checked and unchecked and either way the old fstab was not restored and nfs mounts were not mounted. I dont know if there are other ways in which this might cause a problem but i suspect there might be. It’s not a huge deal but its very annoying when it seems restoring the original fstab file should be the default option. Linux File system restore to "/" partition

Hello team, We have VM backups configured for GCP machines in our environment. Now we have the below scenario as we need to update custom hostname for the machines through terraform which needs deletion and recreation of VM. The approach we followed is as below.1. Take FS backup of the machine2. Delete and recreate the machine with custom hostname3. Have the FS backup restored to the newly created machine so that we have the system back to the state it was before the deletion.While trying this approach we are encountering many issues like losing connectivity to the machine, data which says restored on the console but not visible at the OS level and so on. We had raised a support case as well and got an update that we cannot do a full "/" restore as this will overwrite the kernel OS file which will crash the system during the restore phase and OS level files/directory you should not overwrite on a running machine (/usr /etc /lib /root /boot etc) Could someone please let us know what wou

Use API Key for REST API authentication?

We have a custom application that was developed in-house for automation, and we are trying to integrate Commvault into it, as we have for other backup applications used here.We wanted to know if it was possible for Commvault to use an “API Key” (which Veritas NetBackup has) in order to authenticate, rather than having to use the normal authentication token which expires after 30 minutes of inactivity?For more info on the API Key in Netbackup, see: getting-started (veritas.com)A NetBackup API key is a pre-authenticated token that lets a NetBackup user run NetBackup commands(such as nbcertcmd -createToken or nbcertcmd -revokeCertificate) or access NetBackup RESTful APIs.Unlike a password, an API key can exist for a long time and you can configure its expiration.Therefore, once an API key is configured, operations like automation can run for a long time using the API key.

Hi all,do you have any idea how to troubleshoot this issue - While accessing a drive the Serial Number [xxx] is different from expected Serial Number [yyy] It seems, that there is a mismatch in communication between two tape drives and the library. monitor_tempDB job on commserver

 HI Team,We got a query from DBA team as TempDB monitoring Job is running and its random called by CV, This Job is calling 2 procs in CV and they are the one using OLE Automation, So, disabling won’t help either since it’s externally called. What to do with this job if we keep OLE Automation disabled. do we need to disable OLE automation on commserver and any idea why this job is running on commserve ?

Issue with Ingesting events, audit, alerts to splunk - TCP connector - Syslog configuration

 Unable to find the events in splunk, we confirm that the host is reachable from commserve as well as the IPIs there anything else that we must verify?Also tried deploying a syslog server separately (enabling rsyslog), even there we were not able to find the logmonitor.log being sent.

Minimum domain user account permissions for Active Directory iDataAgent

Currently, we have our AD servers backing up via the iDataAgent using a service account with domain admin permissions. This fact is making our compliance team very nervous.  Has anyone had any success performing these types of backups using a domain user with a more restrictive role?AD Setup
