We would like to configure Commvault backup on IBM power systems which runs on AIX with SAP, DB2 and other application types hosted. The requirement is to run backups over SAN. Please share some thoughts or documentation in achieving this. My Current Understanding :Zone the luns associated to the IBM power systems to Commvault MA\Proxy Once they are zones , during backup configuration  Choose the SAN transport mode for backup or will it automatically choose to run on SAN transport mode when Auto is set for backup.

I have used NetBackup for 10+ years.   Our organization is now pushing us to use CommVault for any new growth.  Has anyone out there come up with a “CommVault for NetBackup Administrators” document?  I have had zero exposure to CommVault until now.

Hi all I wanted to get some opinions on the links visible to the general internet user.I’m getting a few customers asking for access to the Expert links. My understanding (correct me if I’m wrong) is that it’s for Commvault Partners and Vendors only?If this is the case, could the Expert link be removed from a general user’s view as it’s an awkward to conversation to have where a customer feels they should have access it? When a partner signs in, they’d see the full documentation suite.What are the thoughts on this?Regards,Mauro

Hi All.I download the last package - a trial version - for evaluate the Commvault performance.When I did try to install the package, arrive at one point when the installation process request me to insert the ‘sa’ password.I created one Windows server (2019 standard version) ad hoc for this test. After the installation of the Operative System how first product I did install Commvault.On this server don’t exist other additional middleware program.When I arrive at the moment that the installation program request me to insert the “sa” password I did try to insert different options without success.Actually I can’t continue with the installation program.I did try to looking for other possibilities for set the password of SQL Server, without success too.I would like to know how can I make for fix this problem for finish the process installation.THanks in advance.Best RegardsRicardo

When I restart a media, I selecting the Mark MediaAgent Offline for Maintenance so that I do not jump alerts, but even so they keep jumping me as soon as I mark it in maintenance. reason?

I have been working with Commvault on Windows Server 2019 with the Commcell Console and Command Center installed to manage client computers for a few weeks now. I wanted to see if it was also possible to get these same packages on a Windows 10 Desktop to manage clients but on a network with no internet access. I know you can install the packages to deploy on another computer but when I tried a few different times with similar packages I used for the Windows Server 2019 onto the Windows Desktop version I get an incompatibility error and failure during installation.If something like this is possible, what packages would I get just to be able to run backup/ restores, and clone client computer file system drives onto blank drives?Thanks for all the help.  

I installed SQL 2008 agents on a cluster. After installing on both servers, I see the servers on the console but not in the Command Center. And I don't see the instances on the console. Can you help me? Thanks Sorry for my english

Hi Good morning Team,In my environment we do have One Commserve two Media Agents ,the Two Media agents are Physical Window Boxes each media Agent associated 250 Clients machines each media agent having separate Libraries with two dedicated Media Paths which are conneted to Cmode Netapp storage ,now we have got request to move one of the media agent from current location to another location ( Lift and shift ) , so,as per my knowledge while lift and shift the media agent should be in maintenance mode and all the services will be disconnect from Commserve and start the movement , after reached the  media agent to destination location as per the location we need to change the IP as per that location and bring back to the up the machine , then we need to start all the services from commserve and media agents . But still i need more steps to perform this activity as below so if you can help it may well and much appreciate before Moving what are the steps Follow ? what steps should we do with

What is the Unix group we need to use to install sybase commvault agent on Sybase server. 

We need to backup S3 buckets residing on Cloudian as platform.According to the ‘Essentials’ documentation the repository can be added in the AdminConsole under Protect > Object storage.But in our Console of v11.28.14 there is no “Object Storage” - are we missing a license?So I switched to the ‘Expert’ documentation, which outlines everything for the Java CommCell Console.I was able to create the pseudo-client for the Cloud Apps and create an instance, pointing to our Cloudian system at https://s3-somethingAs ‘Authentication Type’ I use ‘Access and secret keys’ and prepared beforehand in the Credential Manager a ‘Cloud Account’ with vendor type ‘Cloudian HyperStore’ and filled in Access- and Secret Key.But to my surprise, the Credential drop-down only lists credential of the type “Amazon Web Services(Access&Secret Keys)” - so of what use is the Cloudian-Type?Long story short: despite it seems to be able to read the content of the bucket (get/dir, /fileList) it copies nothing and

I have been using the Commvault Powershell module v1 with great success for a while now.  Today I noticed at least 1 cmdlet is broken since upgrading some Commcells to 11.28.19.  Using Get-CVVirtualMachine, I have tested against multiple Commserves now and all just return VM not found or No VM’s found if you run with no parameters.  Normally this would return details for the specified VM or all VM’s if no parameter is used. I do have 1 Commcell still on 11.16 and the cmdlet still works fine.  This leads me to believe something is broken for this particular cmdlet in the newer versions of Commvault. I was curious if anyone else having this issue?  Or any problems with any other cmdlets from v1? Thanks

We are currently accessing our Java GUI CommCell Console and SQL Server Management Studio, installed directly on the CommServe Server. According to the link found below, CommVault recommends installing these Management Utilities on a Proxy server, as the extract hereafter specifies:“Do not log on to the CommServe or MediaAgent computer directly. Instead, do the following:Use a virtual machine proxy computer that has the JAVA GUI and SQL Management Studio installed.Log on to the CommCell Console, and then access the MediaAgent computer.”https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=7885_1.htm Is this indeed the recommended practice, or are we okay leaving and accessing the CommCell Console directly on the CommServe Server (we are not accessing the Media Agents directly for management purposes)?Thank you. J

Is it possible to back up In-Place Archiving of 365? I have an organization that uses In-Place Archiving for users and folders are not backed up, is it possible to change this/back up in a certain way? 

Hello,We recently moved Commvault/Commcell to a new server (same domain) because the old one did not have enough place on it for the disks backups.We had it installed on a server named SPGEOFS01We moved it (the technician) on new server called SVGEOCVCSNow, the name on the new client still is SPGEOFS01 I want to add the old Commvault server that still exists and was wiped to host data (SPGEOFS01) But I get conflicts since the name has not changed to SVGEOCVCS everywhere and it tells me that the client already exists.Did our technician do something wrong during the switch ? How can I fix this ? He says it can be days before he finds a solution. Thank you for your help,Felix
