Hello Community,Recently, we connected an FC HBA 3660 StoreOnce appliance to our Commvault v11.32 backup server. The catalyst store on the StoreOnce is configured for low bandwidth, meaning the backup server (media agent) performs deduplication and compression, sending only new data to the StoreOnce.We have created a storage pool that uses StoreOnce as the backup target, followed by a storage policy based on the StoreOnce storage pool.However, it appears that Commvault, by default, disables deduplication and compression on the storage policy.Could anyone advise on how we can enable the deduplication and compression? As StoreOnce is configured for low bandwidth, we want the backup server (media agent) to handle deduplication and compression, rather than StoreOnce.Thank you,

 Hello community, I have some questions about KMIP integration at customer side The customer wants to encrypt the primary copy and the secondary copy it is a KMIP cluster but the spof here is on the VPN.what happens if the KMIP servers are not able to reach the commserve the customer wants to block the ability to restore from our MSP site (critical content), how to perform that, RBAC ? What is the best practice to backup to KMIP Servers ?have any of you already implemented this kind of solution? Thanks !  

Hello Commvault Community!,I have a question in the name of one of our client.We have created a Cloud Library (Azure Archive) - and copied around 40TB of data into the Cloud.It tooks us over 2 months to transfer this amount of data, when it completes we then realize that there is a problem with Cloud Recall workflow - when we try to “Browse and Restore” from CopyPrecedense (Azure Archive) - It is trying to reach an Index from this archive cloud (it runs a job “Index Restore” and it can’t find index data because it is archive storage, so it runs a Archive Recall workflow to recall an index data to be able to list the backup data - this worlflow fails after few seconds and we can find an error in Browse and restore window: “The index cannot be accessed. Try again later. If the issue persists, contact support.”.We decided that restoring an index from archive cloud isn’t good idea, because even if it would work - it would take too much time (few hours just to list backup content (index res

Hello community,I just tried to create a plan via the Command Center. Apparently you can enter everything as usual but when I want to complete the creation there is no response. So it doesn't switch to the overview of the plans. If I then go back manually, I see the created plan in the list with the status "Incomplete". I can't explain the problem at the moment and have therefore attached the logs from the WebServer.log and a screenshot. Hi Commvault experts, I would like to ask how to change the active library controller for the tape library. Of course, I have reviewed the documentation (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.16/library_properties_configuration.html), but it wasn’t helpful in our case. Our new Media Agents have access to the shared SAN tape library, they can access all drives, and even auxiliary jobs are running through them. Unfortunately, we are unable to change the Active Library Controller under Tape Library → Properties → Library Controller → Change, because our new Media Agents are not listed there. What are we missing? In the Device Manager on the server's operating system, we can see all tape drives. So what could be wrong?

Hi Commvault experts, are there any caveats when moving 3 DDB partitions (all have different volume/disk H:,I:,J:) from one Media Agent to the new one? Has to be a new Media Agent added to the Global Deduplication storage pool before the moving of the partitions? The point of moving is to move DDB partitions from the HDD disk to the SSD disk, while moving to the new Media Agent server.And what about size of the new volume/disk for the DDB partitions? Is it just enough sum the amount of the Used Space on DDB Disks from all three DDB partitions? There is a couple of articles from the documentation about ddb moving/sizing, but I would prefer hearing examples from real life situations/experience rather than encyclopedic axiom…- Tell me and I forget. Hello,I have a Storage Policy with the disks and retentions shown below. The idea behind this design is shorten the time required to backup to the primary, then Aux copy(slower disks) can be done later. For jobs with a Full(day1), Incremental (next 20 days), I have seen the full and incrementals being retained on the primary and not aging after 1 day. I understand why as the Full and incrementals are needed to restore, but is there any way to age them off the primary as they will be available on Aux Copys. I have been manually deleting the jobs off the Primary as space starts to run out, but the next incremental job automatically converts itself to a Full backup. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.Primary - SSDs 3TBs - Retention 1 Day 0 Cycle Aux Copy - HDDs 40TBs - Retention 21 Day 1 Cycle Aux Copy - Tape Storage

Does commvault make use of Multi-part upload to S3 compatible HCP/HCP-CS storage?If yes, what's the part size? Can it be modified at the CV ? Does it occur for both non-worm and worm policies? Are there any logs where the parts and upload-ids can be viewed? 

How does HyperScale deal with node failures? An issue with the M2 NVME boot drive caused the failure of one of our three nodes Cluster  (HS 2300 HSX Appliance). Version 4.7 of Hedvig; with over usable capacity of 88 TB; hosted on SuperMicro servers. We saw that all of our backup jobs had entered a waiting state (there's no indication that the backup entered a waiting state right away. Rather, after a few hours, it stopped). When we checked how much the rf3 discs were being used on the nodes, we found that nodes 2 and 3 secondary space were being used a lot.Commvault TAC informed us that after a node failure, the HedVig File system could only handle a certain amount of data, which in our case was 7TB. Currently, our environment consists of a CommServe installed on a Windows Server 2016 virtual machine, with a Media Agent and a proxy server each on separate Windows Server 2016 machines. My goal is to migrate the entire solution to Windows Server 2022 virtual machines on Azure, followed by upgrading the CommVault software from 11.28.117 to the last version.It’s important to note that I was not involved in the initial installation or configuration of this CommVault solution. We want to configure backups for Office 365 & AzureAD.According to the documentation the most secure method currently available is by registering (multiple) apps which can be configured manually or automatically when using a global admin with temporary MFA disabled.The only possible authentication method seems to be clients secrets which is better than service accounts for sure, but I wouldn’t call it the most secure method either.Not sure if (Azure) conditional access can be applied to the app registrations.Is there any other way possible, such as certificates or even managed identities ?It seems Commvault has possibilities in that direction but only for Azure VM’s.Kind regards,Tom

During cleanup, in some cases, jobs for a few users get stuck in the running state and do not progress. The jobs neither fail with an error nor move to the completed phase, remaining in the running state for days. Is there any additional setting related to this issue or a timeout for a user's cleanup process?

Hello, Is it possible for commvault to generate a report of all the files backed up on a drive? example the D drive? including the size of the files or how about the top 50 or 100 largest files? If so can this be done through commcell or would it be better using the command center? Thanks for any help in advance

Hi Commvault gurus! I would like to ask about the process of adding new Media Agents to an existing tape library storage pool. Let's assume the new Media Agent is physically attached to the tape library and everything is properly connected from a hardware perspective. Do we need to deconfigure and reconfigure the tape library in the Commvault Console? I can't find an option to add a new Media Agent to the existing tape storage pool, unlike the process for adding a Media Agent to an existing disk storage pool. Any input will be much appreciated!

Hi Everybody,I have a question about migration of Hyper-V virtual maschines that are backed up via Acronis Cloud. We want to restore this machines from the Acronis backup directly to our vCenter with Commvault.Is this possible and how to realize it?For my understanding I have to install the Acronis virtual machine agent and the Commvault virtual machine agent on the same vCenter. The Acronis agent is needed to restore and migrate the backed up virtual machines directly to the vCenter and the Commvault virtual machine agent is needed for the backup of the virtual machines with Commvault.But is this possible to install both agents on the same vCenter or I’m completely on the wrong way?Best Regards
