Invalid Data on Media - Copy Status Not Available
In the above screenshot, it shows that some backup are Invalid and the the copy status is unavailable and it sets the retention date for 3 months later. I believe there may be a setting somewhere to change that retention date but I do not know where.Also, is there a way that if the copy save on the media agent that returns to be invalid/not available to be retried and remove the failed one? If I look for the dedicated job on the storage policy, its all green so I can’t change it there.Thanks all.
SQL AG backup target (Secondary)
Hi allI have very large SQL DB on a client site. Due to it’s size the client is also a Media Agent that backs itself up and then replicates a second copy of the backup data to the secondary SQL node in the AG.What we’d like to do is use the Secondary node to backup the SQL AG DB from itself which would allow the primary node to not be accessed.From what I can see this is not possible. You can only run a backup copy/TLogs on the Secondary node. I just want to confirm there is no way to satisfy this client request?
HANA database activity on tenant - db level
Hi,Another question: We have HANA instances, with couple of tenants(dbs) in there.So : HANA instance1 => TenantDB1 => TenantDB2If we want to disable the HANA backups (backup activity), we can disable it on the HANA instance1. So far so good.But that option doesn’t exist on tenant/db level:Is there a way to also have the same functionality on HANA tenant/db level?
Intellisnap: Report for orphaned NetApp snapshots?
Hello,i need a report or script that generates a list of orphaned snapshots of the NetApp volume.The report/script should query in the Commvault database the snapshots for a volume and the real snapshots on the NetApp volume. Both must be compared and all extra snapshots on the NetApp volume (Commvault knows nothing about) should be reported.Has someone here something like that? Or a hint how this can be done?Because of a database problem Commvault don’t delete the snapshots before a specific date. For volumes with a simple retention this is easy to do manual, but for the volumes with a advanced retention for monthly etc. snapshots it is complex when doing this manual, where will a report very helpful.Kind regardsStefan
2 different Gridstor point to the same S3 bucket
Hello,Question 1 :I have a gridstor composed of 2 mediaAgents MA1 and MA2one GDP and 2 partitions.This gridstor point the a S3 bucket name CVbucket01 I want to create another gridstor with 2 other mediaAgents MA11 MA22one GDP partitions and 2 partitions.is it possible to point the the same bucket CVbucket01 or is it mandatory to create another bucket Question 2 :When we installed the first gridstor, we selected 2 partitions for DDB. Can I add other media agent and how to increase the partitions ? I know that the limit is 4 nodes per gridstor is it correct ? Thanks to all for your help
Commvault and SAML authentication
Hi,I have configured SAML authentication on the Command center and an ADFS server for a domain.Everything works but there is one small thing i don’t get to work.If i logon and enter the username the redirect to the ADFS servers works but, i need to enter the username a second time. Is there an option to send the username with the SAML redirect?
Exchange DAG Restore
Hi All, we are trying an DR Restore for our Exchange enviroment. We have done the System restore of the 2 Exchange Nodes ( OS level only in vsa backup ) we added the disks and checked if the DAG is working fine. So we have an running blank Exchange DAG. When we try an DB Restore we get always this error: Error Code: [72:106]Description: Cannot find active copy for database [DB04] on [.domain], Exchange2013 can only restore to active database copy.Source: exchangeserver, Process: CvExchDatabaseRestore This error message is strange because of 2 things: The we have only .domain nothing before no dag name or exchange server the Exchange Server is 2016 not 2013 in the client properties we have 2016 We also tried to create an new exchange DB in the DAG ( DB04a set overwrite and mark offline ) and tried the restore to this DB but same error. Do you have any idear ?
Large linux installers: Is there a way to make them smaller to upload
at the moment we have a standard linux installer and it’s size is 7GB; being a msp we copy the installer from the onsite MEdiaAgent and upload these to customer’s’s linux servers; although we have selected only linux packages I notice that the size is till 7GB. Is there a way to create a smaller package ; as it can be challanging to uplod these large installers to customer servers using winscp

Hello, I am using intellisnap to backup ec2 instances.Yesterday I have removed these 2 instances from the subclient and a backup ran.Today on the SLA report I have this : Server Categorytemporary-aws-instance Snap Job with No Backup Copytest-debug-aws-instance Snap Job with No Backup Copy This is related to the backup copy but how to correct this ? My user count has been locked after a friend tried to login to my commcell console. I can login to my command centre, but i can’t access the commcell console. How do i go about unlocking the account?. I am the only admin on the account.
Drobo Device backing up as file agent
We have a subclient that is a Drobo Share, we are backing up as a file system.This is effectively a Drobo share on a server we are backing up.So I see the error Cannot scan [\] but I am able to browse the share, however there is a failed drive on the Drobo device. Raid 1My question is, will a failed drive on a Drobo device cause a Cannot scan [\] error ?
With Office365, can the Index Server and the Exchange Proxy be the same server?
Hello All, I’m just starting to play with Office 365 configurations in my lab. As I’m going through the documentation and watching some YouTube videos, I’ve come across a question I haven’t seen mentioned. Can I have the Index Server and the Exchange Proxy server on the same Windows Server. I’m with an MSP and we haven’t started using Office365 for our tenants yet. It seems going through the documentation that we need a separate Exchange Proxy for each tenant but I’m unsure of the Indexing Server. Do I need an Index Server for each tenant and can that be on the Exchange Proxy server? Looking to cut back on the number of Windows VMs to manage basically. If they can’t be on the same server, can I use the same index server for multiple tenants then have separate Exchange proxies. Any other tips would be welcomed. Thanks.
Offline Mining Tool for Exchange 2019
Hi All,Is the Offline Mining Tool compatible with Exchange 2019?Unfortunately I cannot use the live browse as the backup is performed on a VTL library. With Exchange 2013 it works fine. Now when I try to open the restored DB (Exchange 2019) I see the following errors:
Job update time lacking behind
Something that is annoying me for some time now is that we often see running jobs with a job update time that is lacking behind for 15 min. and more. This has an effect on the information like average speed and also gives a "incorrect” indication to the end-user performing a backup/recovery. Especially during a restore this is seen so a user has no idea how long the recovery will take.I did some investigation already but without results. Anyone an idea if there is something to tweak?
How to cleanup and restart failed secondary CS install on Hyperscale 1.5?
I was installing a 3 node HS1300 (HS1.5) as a Secondary CS and it failed after 50-70% of run. It has created the secondary CS and I am able to login there. But soon after the setup failed running some scripts and there it ended.Though support case is logged. I was wondering if I can do some cleanup and retry the setup?
unable to add the Array with NetApp SnapDiff Feature
Hello together, has anybody used NetApp SnapDiff Feature with FP23 for a CIFS oder NFS File Share Backup?We got this Error Message:unable to add the Array [SVM] in the array managementLast Change was opening Port 443 like written in the documentation. The Netapp Array is configured in the Array Management. We understand that during the backup it trys to add the SVM to the Arrays. But we dont know which communication is really happening there. Maybe someone puzzles with it too. :)Christoph
Replace intellisnap bij Netapp open replication (No Ocum server)
We want to replace intellisnap with (Ocum configured) to Netapp Open Replication. (no Ocum configured.) Can we reuse the SVM accociations? If so, how do you have to do that?If we want to use the new storage policies without Ocum, we do not want to resync al the volumes. Is this possible?Thanks in advance!
Slow Isilon Read Speeds
Hi allWe have a customer that has an Isilon for disk storage.Backup speeds are ok, but DASH to DR or Copy to Tape speeds are terrible. “Last night’s” backups copy to DR at no more than 500GB/hr, if we’re lucky and copy to tape speeds do not exceed 200GB/hr.Index and DDB are on NVME and tested fine.Fallen Behind Copies are literally years behind.Both Commvault and Isilon have checked it out and cannot do anything about it.We did spec Hyperscale before implementation but we were overruled and now I sit with this issue. Very frustrating. Has anyone experienced dog-slow Isilon restores, DASH copies or Tape copies?How were you able to overcome this? It’s gotten so bad that we are going to ask Commvault to either try help us fix it or reconsider certifying it as a DL destination.
Viewing restored items is blank
Hello CC I have an issue in our CommCell where when I look at the restore job history for a database client and if i right click on the restore job and choose “View restore Items\All or Successful, Failed, Conflict or skipped. it brings up the window “Restored Files” as if its going to show the Items then it says No results found” OK. This is a recent thing and its a pain as it means if certain databases failed or skipped or all passed then we cant go and see which ones were passes or fails. the whole window is blank. Any help, guidance or if anyone else is getting this would be most helpful. ThanksTonyQ
