Hi all. We are using the Multi person authorization restore request/RestoreRequestAuthorization workflow so that a user cannot do a restore before its approved. Every time a restore is initiated, an email is sent out to a large number of users/approvers in our environment. Because we do have a large number of users who can approve the restore, we want to disable the email, so that users are not getting spammed with emails. Is it possible to disable the sending of the email? Thanks-Anders
Hi All, i would like to create an big picture for running Backups and admin jobs. Maybe someone has an good idear how can i export the information and maybe let an KI create the schedule plan. My goal is to have an plan to see at wich time wich jobs are running on wich maglib and how long. Also how long is the dash copy running. In best way in a cool graph or kalender. The kalender view in Commvault only show the start time Maybe you have an idear how can i create an good backup schedule plan with the existing informatiuons
Hi everyone,I’m trying to better understand the data flow and potential throughput dependency in the following Auxiliary Copy scenario in Azure. We have two Azure MediaAgents:Copy-2 Azure MediaAgent → Azure Blob Storage (region-local Storage Account)Copy-2 Azure MediaAgent → Copy-3 Azure MediaAgent → Azure Blob Storage (associated storage account)During the Copy-2 → Copy-3 Auxiliary Copy, Copy-2 data flow starting from reading the data from its associated Blob Storage, process it, and send it to Copy-3. Copy-3 then writes the received data to its own associated Blob Storage. In our environment, the read/write throughput between Copy-2 and its associated Storage Account appears to be limited to approximately 3 Gbps. What is interesting is that we also observe the Copy-2 → Copy-3 throughput reaching approximately the same ~3 Gbps level, even though the two Azure VMs communicate through Microsoft's Azure backbone using VNet Global Peering, which theoretically should support significantly hig
Hello,I’ve been spending quite some time attempting to obtain any form of Trial for Commvault software but no luck.I’ve recently joined new company which is using Commvault as main backup solution and am expected to learn it. Since my homelab has vcenter and hyper-v cluster me as a silly goose thought obtaining a trial licence to learn by doing would be trivial.I’ve attempted to register and request trial quite a few times now and have gotten no response for several days - so I’m wondering what am I doing wrong?Attempted all options AI Chatbot gave me, even got provided link by Support Agent who said something along lines - its been received and will be contacted very soon.
Hi All, i´m looking for an simple report wich shows me the used tapes ( Barcode ) per storage policy. I tried the Tapes used Report:→ not good because i see a lot of duplicate barcodes for ech backup. I Only need the infoiramtion storage polcy ABC → 10 Tapes with barcodes nothing less and nothing moreJava gui storage information→ to much informations. also the summary did not show used tapes. here is the only option to generate x reports for x storage policy so do you have an idear for an simple report ( show used tapes per storage policy :) )
Hi All, we need to use vsa snapshots with vTPM aktive. Support told us that from SP42 and later its supported. Our pain actually is that we need to change from Elemnts to central. If you create an new pseude client the question comes up directly But what is with old clients. Is there any migration path maybe via workflow ? We have a lot of pseudocleints wich are using the Prism Element with a lot of subclients. Now we have to create a lot of new clients in the background with alot of new firewall rules etc. maybe you have an idear ? What happend when wie change the IP adress in the pseudoclient object ?
Hi All, i would like to ask regarding Nutanix AHV quiesce Problems. did we need extra firewall ports from the vm guest tools outside. So the vsa proxy need TCP Port 9440 to running backups. For quiesce the guest tools is there any more firewall port needed ?
Hi all.We have a PostgreSQL server running in a Kubernetes environment, and are looking into how to back this up. We do not backup the Kubernetes environment and have not configured a service account, created a access node as described in the Kubernetes configuration guide https://documentation.commvault.com/11.44/software/configuration_for_kubernetes.html)I found the Application-Aware Protection for Containerized PostgreSQL documentation (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.44/software/application_aware_protection_for_containerized_postgresql.html), can I use this to backup the PostgreSQL server running in Kubernetes without configuring backup for the Kubernetes environment first? Thanks-Anders
Hello, Is Git also updated together with the Commvault update, or does it need to be updated manually? If so, how do I update it manually
Does something like a 'dynamic' or 'static' license really exist? I know there are several license types based on capacity or cores, but I have never heard of this specific type. If it does exist, how can I find out which type I currently have? Thanks."
I have a Commvault 11.44 installation, and I am being told that the license can be either dynamic or static. My license is capacity-based. I checked the CommCell and the Command Center in reports, and looked for the license.xml file in /opt/commvault/Base/, but it does not exist. Could anyone please tell me how I can check what type of license it is? This information is vital because I want to change the VLAN and IP address; if it is dynamic, I won’t need a new license, but if it is static, I will need to purchase one. Thanks for the help!"
Hello all,Whenever i need to disable activity on a client there’s a need to approve this action. As a master user is there anything i can do to skip this approval? Kind regards,Joao
The customer is using Proxmox version 9.2.5 and CommCell version 11.36.120. They would like to deploy a Proxmox VE access node. However, the system requirements for version 11.36 specify only Proxmot VE version 8.x.I noticed that Proxmox VE support for version 9.x is not available until version 11.40.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/software/system_requirements_for_proxmox_ve_access_nodes.htmlhttps://documentation.commvault.com/2024e/software/system_requirements_for_proxmox_ve_access_nodes.htmlAt this time, the customer doesn’t want to upgrade the environment to version 11.40. Is it safe to install the VSA package for Proxmox access node? Will it work with the current version of the CommCell environment? Regards,Michael
I am trying to fix our Command Center login page.I am not sure which values to change for this particular page. The login page looks like this:You can see that we are missing the username after “signing in as”and we are missing the “Stay logged in” text and button. They are actually there, but the text is white.White text against white background.. not easy to read.I can mark the text with the mouse pointer, so I know it is there. This is the current theme: I can change any of the “background” values, like page background or container background, but it seems to only change in the command center, not the login page. Maybe login page must be edited elsewhere?
Good day allI was trialling the V11.40 SDK today, but notice that the Commserve Role doesn’t appear to be part of the Media Kit yet. Has anyone else experienced this? I also notice that V11.40 is not yet available on the Store.
Is there a report that shows the compliance lock status of each copy in a storage policy ?
Using the bUseLatestVDDKVersionPath Additional Setting, I am looking to force the use of VDDK901 for the protection of multiple 8.0.3 environments.Given that VMware claims that VDDK is N-2 backwards compatible, I am interested to understand if anyone has faced any issues when forcing the use of a later VDDK version, and whether there are any caveats I should be aware of?
Hello, Teams,I am looking for someone who can share the offline documentation file for the 2022E (11.28) version. Since this version has reached end-of-life / support termination, it is currently difficult to access or review the related documentation. Additionally, all existing links for 2022E (11.28) are currently being redirected to version 11.46, making it hard to find the older references. If anyone happens to possess this legacy offlinedocs file and is willing to share it, I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you in advance!
I have a small CommCell with a CommServe on 11.32.115 running on a build of Windows Server that needs a refresh.I could stand up a new VM with the same IP and hostname and do a DR DB restore and I guess I’m back up and running quickly with a clean build? But I noticed Commvault now offer a Linux CommServe and a pre-configured OVA appliance so I’m wondering if this is something I should be looking at instead? The current environment doesn’t use “plans” it’s all traditional storage policies and copies and schedule policies to run jobs out of business hours.I don’t tend to use Command Center I tend to use the Java UI but I guess that’s out of habit. It’s a pretty small and simple environment with just a few Windows file agents and a NAS agent pulling some UNC paths in.What would people suggest please?
I am currently questioning our AuxCopy to tape performance and want to get some input on how to identify the bottleneck. We have multiple plans which all have two copies to tape. One is synchronous and one is selective. Each of the two is consolidated onto another Global Secondary Copy Policy. The storage target are six LTO9 drives with a mixed LTO8 and LTO9 media inventory. The source for the copy is a NetApp StorageGRID S3 backed storage pool with deduplication connected on a 100G fiber network. We have two Media Agents which are both connected to all LTO drives and the NetApp (same VLAN).Looking at the reported speed of the drives in Commvault I get around 130MB/s all of the time.I could confirm this looking at SFP speeds on the FC switch which also stay around this value with rare peaks to around 200MB/s.What I tested already to look for the bottleneck:- only run one AuxCopy Job- run AuxCopy when no other jobs where running- validate drive > 300MB/s throughput with LTO8 media- differ
Hi all!I would like to discuss following situation. We are unable to override retention under plan. After turning on the option on “Override restrictions” to give permission to “Allow this plan can be overridden” than select changing the value to “Override optional/required and clicking OK we see no real changes performed. Is it possible that this setting is somewhere blocked or overwritten by another settings?
Hello, an incremental oracle backupjob was but at the job details (events) I see the following event: Backup job [xxxxxxx] has been converted to a full (code 38).I looked at the jobmanger log, taskmanger.log on commserve and oracleagent.log on client but I don’t fine why the incremental job is converted to a full backupjob. Maybe someone can tell me what (code 38) exaclly means? A backup is done every day the last full backupjob was from yesterday. regards Roland
Good day allWould there be any information available on Huawei RDS support from Commvault?I’ve been told that it will work using the AWS RDS methodology (will be testing this), but for a customer we would be required to have official support matrixes in place.Perhaps someone has a roadmap on this and is allowed to share some information? Thank you.
Hi,Can someone clarify the Instant Clone or “Optimize for table level restore” features?I have multiple SQL Servers. DB admins ask me about possibility to restore single tables instead of whole databases (some of them are huge like 10+ TB).So now I’m testing this on my playground but I’m not sure I get how it works.Creating recovery point / instant clone attach new database to selected instance and on low-level this is VSS snapshot mounted directly from my Commvault disk library to the proxy server. So there is no real data on server - it’s just on my commvault library. Is that correct?Proxy server have to be the server when I have target instance.I can’t restore tables directly to the source database. I can only restore tables to some another databases. So what is the point of this feature?I saw that enabling this cause backup by only 1 stream. Is that true?
Hi community. We recently configured the Oracle agent on a Linux machine, the instance is discovered and configured. But when checking the readiness, it gets the error below: Connect string: /SBT library path: /backup/catalyst/commvault/Base/libobk.soRMAN failed to load SBT library [RMAN-03009: failure of allocate command on c1 channel at 02/24/2026 16:49:34 ORA-19554: error allocating device, device type: SBT_TAPE, device name: ORA-27211: Failed to load Media Management Library ]. Please run Check Readiness on the client to diagnose and resolve the issues. Checking the logs, I see the lines below: 39612 9abc 02/10 16:15:29 ### SetOracleBaseEnv(6236) - Failed to execute script [/backup/catalyst/commvault/Base/Temp/orabase_39612.sh] returnCode [126] output [] errorStr [ERROR: ld.so: object '/backup/catalyst/commvault/Base/libCvDllFilter.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.bash: /backup/catalyst/commvault/Base/Temp//ulimitquery_67447.sh: Permission denied Does anyone have fac
